Lengthy but honest, and informative review here!
I'm not one to typically leave a review unless my experience is the absolute best, or the absolute worst. This is 100% worth it!!! My group of 5 people, 4 in our 30's, and my 9 year old son, all had such a blast here! We traveled to St. Petersburg for a weekend getaway and planned to do a bunch of fun activities, this being one of the spots on our list. It ended up being such a fun experience, we opted out of other activities on the list for the following day, to come back to Sandbox VR instead! We only booked 1 experience for that next day thinking that would finally be enough, however..
We ended up immediately booking ANOTHER experience for the same day (which ended up being quite the workout honestly! We were sweating after each one from moving around with the equipment on, so definitely dress in exercise attire!)
The staff at this location was top tier. Out of our 3 booked experiences, each time setting you up with a staff member to assist your group with the equipment setup and tutorials. Our group was paired with Amy twice, and she couldn't have been better!! Shadd who was the store manager was also fantastic! They were all super friendly and happy to assist us from the moment you walk in, to getting geared up to shoot some zombies!
If you have a little one with you, some of the games offer a premium weapon, if you want to ensure they end up as your teams MVP, I payed the $6.99 for it 2 of the 3 times, both times resulting in my 9 year old son getting to walk out after the battle and see himself on the big screen as our teams MVP. Which low-key was a fun little extra add-on, and was worth the splurge in my opinion. I'd even add, I might get it for myself or the wife next time around, because the guns he got both times were pretty awesome!! One was some sort of lightning/electricity shooting rifle. The other was a rail-gun. Neither seemed to need to reload, unlike our weapons, and both did a ton of damage! He really enjoyed using them, and they're significantly better than the standard weapons!
I could go on and on about this place, however, If you've not been here before. GO! Rather it be a fun couples date night, or a big group of family and friends, you WILL have a blast, and laugh your butt's off!
We will now be returning customers for sure!
P.s. Sandbox, get me some sort of membership program going here so we can make this a frequent activity!! And thank you for a memorable...
Read moreGreat place to experience something new and super fun! My girlfriend’s sister was in town from Tennessee and she just so happened to see a Ad online for Sandbox VR. We had never heard of the place but proceeded to look up the different experiences they had to offer and watch the videos on their website. A few days later on a Sunday we had nothing to do and wanted to do something fun before we jumped back in to the work week. We booked their most popular experience and were not disappointed! It was more realistic then we anticipated and they have sensors on both wrists and ankles along with a vest you wear that is easily adjusted for maximum comfort. The staff was very helpful and friendly and our guides name was Leo, I give him a 5 star by itself for the in-depth way he explained everything and being so personable. The only thing that could be considered as not being a 5 star was my selection of weapon. They even have a bar in here for refreshments before and after the fun and a young boy about 9 recommended I get the pistol and buzzsaw as it would be extremely helpful while playing, so I did just that since I was first to choose which weapon I wanted. I had some issues with the buzzsaw, as it wasn’t working properly so the game had to be paused twice as we were starting. They ended up getting the glitch figured out (they only opened a week prior so some of this can be expected) and the rest was history.
A great overall experience I would recommend to anyone looking to have some fun on a day where you don’t have any plans or maybe it’s rainy outside! And what a great business opportunity for all of you entrepreneurs. Side note: Have you ever had a great experience where at the end they charge you a fee for the video? Not here! We were pleasantly surprised they send the video for free to your email so you can share it with friends and family. There’s also a fun dance off at the end where you can be goofy and see yourself do the break down in VR! Before we left they offered to book the next experience for a 20% discount if you do it then, which we planned on coming back next Sunday and trying a different one anyways, so it was worth it. Hope this...
Read moreTL;DR: they were running 1.5h behind, and if you sort Google Maps reviews by lowest, then you'll see that this is a common and long-standing issue.
We arrived early, per the instructions, and had the waivers signed ahead of our start time. Then, they told us there would be a 'short' wait beyond our start time because "there are a few groups ahead of you", which defeats the purpose of a reservation system. They said they couldn't tell us how long it would be (but the screens on the rooms showed that they were only just starting the groups scheduled an hour before us). Long story short, they were running an hour and a half behind. Which makes no sense to me... you have reservations and you know precisely how long each session is (25 mins), so there's no reason to be running so late, unless you're overbooking it. And even then: since you know how many groups are ahead of us, you should be able to tell us precisely how long we need to wait. It shouldn't be a mystery; the only reason not to tell us is so you can string us along with "just ten more minutes" five times. And if you're an hour late, you should be calling people and telling them that BEFORE they get there. The experience itself was pretty neat (although there were technical issues with guns not working--also a recurring issue in past reviews), but the scheduling problems really soured the experience.
What's really frustrating is that you can find reviews complaining about this problem going back MONTHS. Clearly it's not a new problem. Until they respect their customers' time enough to address the issue, then I wouldn't want to return.
The icing on the cake was the manager asking us to leave a review on Google Maps by holding out a QR code for us to scan and saying "we're having a competition to see which guide can get the most five star reviews". Very nice awkward silence there. Well, here's your review. Hope it...
