Torchy's Tacos — Restaurant in Saint Petersburg

The food here is genuinely good -- unique taco options, incredible queso, lots of drink options. Unfortunately their drive-through window is extremely unorganized -- or maybe just disinterested in actually helping their customers. Last time I did a preorder through the app for window pickup, I got there 2 minutes past the time the app said my order should be ready for pickup. Someone came to the window (no greeting or anything) and just said "Name?" I gave it, and they closed the window and disappeared without saying another word. It was literally a full 20 minutes before anyone came to check on me again, and that was another girl who just asked my name yet again, without another word. About five minutes later they finally gave me my food, without a thank you or apology for the wait or anything. Zero hospitality or even acknowledgment of the ridiculous wait. The next time, a few weeks later, against my better judgment, I made another app order for pickup at the window. This time I get there and there is already a car waiting. I again arrive about 2 minutes after the pickup time indicated by the app. I sit and wait for ten minutes, with no one coming to the window at all to talk to the lady waiting in front of me, before I finally call in and ask if anyone was going to come serve the now three cars sitting in the line because I legit was starting to get the impression they didn't even know we were there. The girl who answers says, hold on I'll go see if her order is ready, puts me on hold and never comes back. About five minutes later, the person in front of me gets their food and leaves.

I've already been there for over fifteen minutes, all past the time my food was supposed to be ready. Was it ready by the time it was my turn at the window? Of course not. Apparently, even when you make an advance order for pickup, they don't start cooking it until after you've already been sitting in the pickup line for fifteen minutes. Another wait. Finally got my food handed to me by a very cheerful man who also doesn't say thank you or apologize for the wait or even acknowledge the wait at all. I mean, how hard is it to say "sorry for the wait" to someone who's been sitting there waiting well past their pickup time? And even on the times there wasn't a ridiculous wait, the girls at the window have never shown any friendliness or anything other than what basically seemed like annoyed indifference. Maybe if you eat in every time you can avoid these issues, but this location really needs to do better.

In today’s world, I can truly say that I cannot remember the last time that my fiancée and I tried a new restaurant for the very first time (or even fast food/restaurants we frequent regularly) - and were LITERALLY blown away! It just doesn’t seem to ever happen anymore…. And then there’s our first experience at Torchys! We absolutely LOVED EVERYTHING we ordered!!!! Best Queso we’ve ever had hands down (I truly mean that) and HUGE serving size! I got the Brushfire (Jamaican Jerk Chicken) & Fajita Steak Tacos with a side of rice and beans and I give them each a 20 out of 10! My fiancée is vegan and she got the Mofaux Tacos and LOVED them! Another 20 out of 10! She also got the Mexican Street Corn as a side and, oh my goodness, PRESTO! Their sides are HUGE and delicious and their prices cannot be beat! Also - I want to give a VERY SPECIAL SHOUT OUT to the young man working the register named Dula! He was without rival! His enthusiasm and COMPLETE knowledge of the menu blew me away! He suggested what I ordered and I am very happy I listened to him! If I could give this place a 30 out 10 just to emphasize 20 extra points for Dula’s skills and friendliness and just for being a genuine, thoughtful and super friendly guy - I would!
