Cancun Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Saint Robert

This is coming from a real Mexican. I Came in believing the food was going to be good but was extremely disappointed. The restaurant says it’s a “Mexican Restaurant” but it does not taste like it. It tries to be Mexican, but it’s not. First of all, the food has a really weird taste to it almost as if they seasoned it too much? The rice was really dry and salty as well as the beans and the tortillas. We also ordered horchatas and they’re anything but. Im pretty sure they be using them powdered packaged flavors for the drinks. There are many reviews on here that say the opposite of what Im saying, but I’m positive it’s because those people haven’t tried the real thing. It’s like a whitewashed restaurant basically, almost like being Mexican and being an owner of a “Chinese Restaurant” but it’s anything but that. It is really disappointing to see that people who aren’t Mexican profit of Mexico when they don’t know how to cook a basic dish properly and don’t get me started on the microwaved chicken tenders and fries.

When I first got to FLW I went to the closest Mexican restaurant to base and the food was good. So I locked their number in. On Sunday I wanted food and they was closed so I looked online for an option and called in the order. I didn't remember the name and showed up to Cancun and grabbed somebody's food but paid. I got home and started eatting the chips and queso and moved on to the seafood to discover it was chicken. I called back no answer. I drove up and the nice owner said hey you grabbed the wtong food. We stood there trying to figure it out. He said no order for seafood was called in. I pulled out the phone and called back and a man asked my order number. I said 7 and he said Yeap it is still here still warm. I picked up the seafood and ate it. Then went back to Cancun and tasted his seafood. I am hooked on Cancun. A mix up on location got me tonthe #1 spot in Missouri for sure. Excellent tribut inside for Service Members. Really nice and personal owner. I will miss him and his food when my time here...

We stopped in for dinner while in the area. I had quickly looked at their good reviews & thought "Great we have found a new place!" Service was good, but the food was not like any we have ever had. Not sure what it was...too much cilantro(?) or other seasonings, but over powering to us. The chicken in the chimichanga I got was not shredded white meat as expected. It was instead big chicken strips...chunky & the texture like thigh meat(?) I guess it was a marinade that made it like that, but I couldn't eat it. His Taco Salad was disappointing & the beans that were on both plates had a strange purplish tone. I've eaten Mexican food all over the US & love Mexican. I just don't get it...maybe a different style that I've never run across(?) Even the queso dip was very different from the white Mexican cheese dip we normally have. Both of us had stomach issues that night & the next morning. Really...
