I am new to the Salem area and in an effort to find my "go to" Mexican restaurant here I stopped in at LA FONDITA 2 last week. What a mistake! It was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I briefly glanced at the menu and figured I would order something simple that nobody could mess up. WRONG! Like a lamb to the slaughter, I ordered 2 crispy beef tacos and a burrito to go. After a long wait, the waitress finally rang me up and it came to a whopping $30! I am 69 yrs old, of hispanic heritage and certainly not a novice to ordering mexican food! The average price for this meal is $10-12 bucks max. In shock, I drove home trying to figure out what had gone wrong. When I opened the container, the food didn't even vaguely resemble what I had ordered. Since I am on a strict budget, I called LA FONDITA to see if a mistake had been made. Before I knew it I was talking to the manager who was defensive from the get-go. He was rude, hostile and offensive, telling me that a Chicana wasn't a true mexican who could properly access the value of his "authentic Mexican cuisine." All this from a junky little hole-the-wall dive. I do NOT recommend this place, unless you want to be permanently separated from lots of your money and then be insulted when you dare to...
Read moreMy boyfriend had the Pollo à la Crema and I had the Mole Enchiladas. His Pollo à la Crema was delicious but the beans were very watery and tasteless. The rice was good as well. I had the Mole enchiladas and unfortunately this was the nastiest Mole I have ever had in my life. I’ve had Mole in Oaxaca and this one claimed to be “authentic” from Oaxaca but it was far from that. My Mole had no flavor at all I didn’t even eat my food because of how grossed out I was. All I basically ate from my plate was my rice and some of my boyfriend’s pollo à la Crema. To top it off the service wasn’t all that great either. When the server came to ask what we wanted to drink and I wasn’t ready she had a bit of an attitude. Once the food was served she didn’t come back to check how we were doing either. My boyfriend had to get up at the end and go pay upfront because she didn’t come back to check on us at all. I wouldn’t recommend this place or at least just don’t get beans or...
Read moreThis restaurant is as good as it gets. When we visit Salem from Southern California we stop here for the best Mexican food in Salem. I grew up here in Salem until I was 19 and then left to serve in the military. I stayed in Southern California after my service. But I come back every year multiple times to visit my parents and family. I’ve had some of the best Mexican Food in Los Angeles and San Diego and Fontana and Santa Ana. And La Fondita is right up there and even surpasses some of those places. Always good customer services, the prices are reasonable for the quality and amount of food that is given. Keep up...
