We stayed in the property over last weekend and to our surprise the room didn’t have a refrigerator though we had confirmation from Hotels.com that we will get one as I had made a special request and paid a slightly higher amount. We got pretty late from our drive and checked in post 11:00 pm. To our disappointment the room didn’t have a refrigerator and when I went to the front desk they offered a 10% discount or advised me to look for another room at 11:50 pm. Can someone imagine being told to do that when you are already ready to sleep after a long, tiring drive. Eventually after some arguing, they agreed to offer a 40% discount. Since I didn’t had anything in writing to document this, I went back and they refused to even offer the discount they promised as the person who made the promise left as his shift got over. The other lady in blonde hair simply refused as she didn’t make the commitment for this discount. How disgusting can this be??? They even said they don’t have any refrigerator in the property. When I checked with two friends who had checked into other rooms, they did have refrigerators in there rooms. I went back to the front desk, they seemed surprised as if they didn’t knew anything about the property they manage. Added photo of the room with refrigerator. They put all the blame on Hotels.com and told me to call them up asking for a refund. The next day I went to the front desk and narrated The Whole story to an old lady who was the property manager. She seemed to be frustrated and rude and was in no mood to listen. Customer service is last on their priority list. Worst experience so far and would avoid staying with this chain again. Beware

I've stayed in a few Motel 6's over the last couple of years, and I would say by in large, they are a fine economy chain to stay in. However, every once in awhile, you run across one that doesn't quite measure up to the others. Case in point, Motel 6 on Hawthorne Ave in Salem Oregon. This establishment is in much need of attention. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The building and rooms however are not as much. Building repairs, vehicles through wall, holes in doors, facets misaligned, shody paintwork, all make this particular establishment low on the rating scale. At the time of this review, they were offering very low room rates. From the pictures posted, you can tell why. If you're planning on staying in Salem any time soon, there are two to three other Motels on the same street that would be more to your satisfaction. Stayed again at this location on 8/2. Better experience than previously stated, however, still a couple of issues worth noting. Window in room had the framework broken to where you could see the edge of the glass to the outside(wondered why the room wouldn't cool down), and the floors appear to have been missed in the cleanup process by the evidence left on the white towel. Small things, but a lot of small things add up to a possible unpleasant stay. Office staff still very friendly and accommodating at this location. It's the maids and maintenance personnel that could step up their game to improve the overall ratings of this location.

My daughter and I stayed in Salem, Ore on Oct 19. There were no room amenities; Kleenex, shampoo, coffee pot etc. the electric plug between the beds was hanging out of the wall. The other outlet didn’t hold our plugs. The floor boards were coming up in several places. One was almost completely unglued and sticking up. There was a spike on one board. The smoke detector didn’t work (confirmed by employee). A baseboard was pulled away from the wall enough to put a wallet it. The curtains were moth eaten and the bed springs were so loud, they mimicked a cartoon. We were not offered another room even though I had the desk clerk look at the room. I was told to talk to the manager in the morning. She looked bored and like she wanted to be anywhere but there. I can’t blame her for that. She never sat up or showed any kind of concern. She only asked if we had been offered another room then said she’d talk to her manager and they may give us a discount. Since the night clerk said he would leave a note for her and maintenance and didn’t and given her general disinterest, I doubt very much our complaint will be passed on. I did tell her before I left that the room was a serious safety issue and they shouldn’t put anyone in there until it’s fixed. I’m pretty sure the fire department would agree. It was a very quiet hotel and close to grocery, gas and fast food. They advertised a pool but we never saw one. Happy travels

I have stayed at many Hotel 6's in the past as I find they are basic, but clean, and good for just staying a night or 2. This was a nightmare. All was good and I was watching tv and heading to bed when I was called by the front desk at 1130 PM. They informed me that my room had a cockroach problem and wondered if I had seen any. They told me they could get 100's in that room, flying, and up to 3 inches long. They asked if I would like to step out for 90 min and they could come and try and spray the room down. They lived in the wall between my room and the one next door, and next door had just called down to say the cockroaches had come out - so they wanted to check on me. Told me they had sprayed the room 3 days ago, and all had been good. Told me I should have been informed that there was a cockroach problem and been discounted if I agreed to the risk of staying in the room! I was told nothing of the sort - had I, I would have just cancelled and booked elsewhere!! Hotel was full, so they couldn't move me. He said I could take my chances and call down if they came out in the middle of the night. He told me to crank up the air conditioning as they don't like the cold. I had just had the heat on in my room!! So I cranked up the air con, left the lights on, bundled on all my clothes, put a hoodie on and tied it tight - and kept a watch for cockroaches. The next day I was a mess from not sleeping! They told me to check back at the hotel after 2 PM to see if anyone checked out, and they could then move me, and they could check with corporate about getting a reduction!!!! Came back at 2 - they moved me and refunded my night from previous. I tried to get into my room at 2 - not yet cleaned. Housekeeping told me to hold on, they would be there in a minute - nothing! Came back at 5 - room still not clean. Normally I am a confident older traveller - but I just broke down - exhausted from no sleep - and no one seemingly able to help, or care. Again - they said someone would be there in a moment - again waited, kept asking housekeeping - it seemed to be no ones job! Came back at 7:30 - and room was done. I have been all over the world - and come to expect certain things in 1st world vs 3rd world travelling. Like staying in budget places and nothing but positive in the past. But I have never been a part of anything as crazy as this. This is my last ever time staying...

I reserved a room Confirmation for my 17 yr old daughter and myself for 2 nights at the Motel 6 located at 1401 Hawthorne Ave NE, Salem, OR 97301 while work was being done on my home. Specifically I had reserved one that Was Advertised on Website as having two Queen Sized Beds with a Refrigerator & Microwave....when arrived staff in office was rude and we were told that any minor found outside of room without ID would be removed from property and or arrested. Upon entering room immediately noticed beds were Full size NOT Queen sized and there were No Comforters/Bedspreads on them also there was No microwave in the room when asked office if there had been a mix up because I had specifically reserved a room with Queen Sized Beds and a Microwave...I was told that they do Not have any rooms available with queen size beds and No Microwaves on premises, I replied ok well that's False Advertising but whatever, can I at least get Comforters for the beds she told me they do not use Comforters/Bedspreads ....what kind of motel does Not have comforters/Bedspreads for the beds. Along with not getting what I paid for, further observation noticed other discrepancies such as stains on sheets, uncleaned & MOLDY areas... Non-functioning light fixtures & THE MOST DISGUSTING POOL I'VE EVER SEEN!!!

The first night was almost unbearable with Dozens of Obvious Meth Addicts doing and dealing meth from their rooms and in the parking lot....people coming and going all night, drunks yelling outside of my room ...fights in the parking lot ...An Ant infestation...and a guy (whom when I complained, I was told by staff was the motel manager) working on a broke down car that had been dropped off by a tow truck in the parking lot until after 10:00 p.m.

The second night was much quieter in the parking lot (still lots of traffic) but having to wake up at 5:00 a.m. for work already exhausted from not getting any sleep the previous night. When the people in the room above me started what sounded like moving the furniture around at 10:00 p.m. I decided to check out 13hours earlier than what I had paid for and just return to my home under construction with no bathroom.

My experience with Motel 6 was the worst of my life, I will never go back to that location...or possibly any other location & would NOt recommend motel...

We stayed at Motel 6 in Salem, Oregon on Hawthorne. We (family of 4) booked for 2 nights, online. After arriving, both my husband and I were asked for our IDs. I lost my current ID on the way up from California on the train but luckily had my expired card. I also had my SS card with me. I was told that I would not be allowed to stay. Thankfully the manager stepped in and apparently bent the rules so that I could stay with my kids and husband. So, thank you for that. However, we almost packed up and left in the middle of the first night. I had to ask front desk for new sheets for both beds because of pubic/beard hair, make up and other unidetified hard, crusty substances. Pubes and lint all over bathroom, bloody boogers on walls, blood smeard on side of nightstand, puddle of water under the AC unit and a floor covered with dirt and God knows what else. It was like it had never been cleaned from the previous stay. The male neighbors we had sat outside of their room yelling, pounding on walls/doors and spiting all over our doormat. My husband had to wait on the stairs at one point because the stairs were being blocked by 2 people buying/selling drugs. We witnessed many drug deals in the parking lot below us and at many of the rooms. And it was the same dealer on a bike each time. We were disgusted and quite afraid the whole time. My husband was afraid to leave our kids and I alone in the room (a disgustingly filthy room) without him because of the amount of shady activity literally on our doorstep. So we packed up and left as early as possible the next morning and asked for a refund for the second night which was given. I would give 0 stars if I could but apparently rules were bent for me so I could stay with my kids and husband. So, for that I am appreciative. However, the discomfort we faced in every other aspect of the stay was absolutely unexceptable, disgusting and filthy. We will never again stay at a Mitel 6 for fear that the whole chain keeps the...
