I went tonight with my family to celebrate my grandmother's birthday and I want to preface that the food was delicious. It seems as though the chef takes pride in what they do and it shows. I'm leaving a review because the service was horrible. It wasn't for lack of timeliness, but rather attitude. The server we had was condescending, impatient, and overall unhappy and it showed. I asked about drink offerings and was told to just ask for what I want due to the mix of products (i.e. some Coke or Pepsi). So, I asked for a Pepsi and she got mad at me? If you have multiple products and brands, just let me know some that are available. It didn't need to be followed with an attitude. Additionally, I was sorely disappointed that she would only service one end of the table when taking orders. I found it off putting that she wouldn't walk to the other end to speak to my great aunt, she'd just talk across the table. We called early enough in the day to accommodate a large group and was told it was alright, but in person it felt like we were at inconvenience. Not a good feeling when you're just trying to be polite and have a good time. It was a less than ideal experience for a place that is obviously known for their delicious food. *In response to the owner's comment, if this is considered your "best," I'm sorely disappointed. Please do better with customer service or find a different industry to be in (picture attached since they've conveniently deleted it). I'd also like to add that my father informed me later in the evening that his dish came out cold. He didn't want to complain at all, so he just took it to-go and left. I don't know what made the owner feel like last night's service was acceptable, but it wasn't.

I came here about a week ago with a friend during COVID when restaurants are having to adapt to a new protocol for running their business. We were seated outside on the street in front of the Elsinore. There were about five other tables with customers and the owner was very attentive to us all. And honestly just hilarious. It felt like being in the tv show Cheers. She bantered and chatted with all the customers while we waited for our food. My friend ordered the shepherd's pie and I ordered the Dublin doodle (Irish sausage, bacon, potato, and carrots cooked in Guinness). The servings were huge! The owner said that all of her food was fresh and made to order and it definitely tasted that way. I would have recommended either dish as they were both awesome. I took half of mine home and it was even better the next day as the flavors had more time to marinade with each other. I like having places like this in Salem with unique food offerings and the owner bringing her culture to our community. I would definitely go back.

My family and I stumbled upon Sister Irish Bistro, which I would call  a total hole-in-the-wall spot with charm. I have read other reviews that it takes while for the food to come out, but come on, this isn’t McDonald’s, right? I got the Shepherd’s pie and it was absolutely delicious. Likely my wife and kids didn’t want any and I got to have it all to myself. My wife went with the lemon salmon, which was equally amazing, though it does come with some mushrooms in the side and she isn’t really a big fan of them. The place has this super cozy, warm vibe that just makes you feel right at home. Sure, it’s not the fastest dining experience, and it’s not the fanciest, but sometimes good food is worth the wait. Definitely a spot I’d recommend for anyone looking for some Irish comfort food with real character. It's definitely worth another visit.

I look at all the other positive reviews and I don’t get it. That’s not experience this evening. I stoood and waited to be seated (as the large sign asks me to do ) for several minutes. Then I was asked what I wanted and I said “to be seated for dinner “ and the lady just walks off. Moments later she came back and she seemed surprised I’m still here. She asks me a second time what I wanted and I pointed at the large sign that says “please wait to be seated “ and told her I am waited to be seated so I can have dinner. So she says sit where I like. The. A moment later I am asked to sit else where. Shake my head.

I asked to make an adjustment to accommodate a food restriction and the owner seemed bothered by it but told me which dish she could make an accommodation it was one single option. So I agreed. The wait wasn’t long and I got the dish and it tasted pretty good. It was my understanding it can’t with bread and I inquired if bread still came with dishes and from across the restaurant she answered yes but they were busy. I also had to ask for water repeatedly.

The owner did seem friendly at all. Very unwelcome and rude. Once dying my meal she yelled from the kitchen to ask me if I have even tried the meal yet. The portions are good The price is too high. I had a dish that it’s bade is cabbage and mash potatoes and it’s over $10.00. Why neither are expensive.

I really want to support and like a local business but customer service by the owner is greatly lacking. The customer service needs to go up and price needs to be lowered $3-$5. I’m just not sure if I will be coming back as this is already my second time and this was worse than the first. They have a table of 7 customers and me in the restaurant. It’s not that busy for such poor service.

Does the owner need a vacation ? They just expanded, do they need another employee to lend a hand I don’t know but for a rating scale

Portion of food : 8 correct temp: 8 Flavour : 7 (I did make a modification that could of course change some of that) Customer service : 3 Price for the value : 5 Over all...

Irish coffee no cream available to top off. Thats a crime. First one was very good though and second one lots of coffee grounds. Had fish which was at least years old greasy and could not bite through it. Spit it out. Fries good. Never go back $105 spent because of you reply i am going to be more specific one All Irish coffee is topped of with either heavy cream or whipping cream. I looked on hundreds if Irish sites and ALL site say that the top cream is Part of all Irish coffee. IF You dont want to do that ok but dont call it a traditional Irish coffee . Two my friend said his fish was ok and he ate all of his. My wife did not have fish but some kind of mash she said she liked it. This is about my meal. The fries were good. The cold slaw was some of the best i have ever eaten but the fish was horable. I tasted the crust and there was no flavor of ale just greasy. Cooked at to low of temp. Must be 425 or higher. Two , I took a fork and the fish pulled out out of the crust.onto the plate. I picked up the fish and could NOT bite through it it was like a soild piece of grissle so i spit it out. My wife tried it also and she spit it out and said " there is something wrong with this fish. But she loved her dish. I did Not eat any if the fish that was served me it was ALL left on my plate. I did not complain because of the vibes i got from the server. As to the $105 i spent it not the amount i can easily afford more as it eat a Ruth Crist, Rudies, and a Irish restaurant in Lake Oswego. I just dont like spending any amount of money on poor food I told what happened and instead i was attacked and lied about and your response verified why i was right...
