I don’t often write reviews, but after my disastrous visit to the Wendy's on Broadway in Salem NH, I felt compelled to warn others. This place was a complete mess from start to finish, and I won’t be coming back anytime soon. Here’s why
Service: The Worst Customer Service I've Ever Experienced
I walked in around lunchtime, and there were only two people ahead of me in line. Despite this, it took nearly 15 minutes for me to get to the counter. The employees were moving at a glacial pace, and no one seemed to care. One of the workers was on their phone in the back, and another was joking around with a coworker, completely ignoring the growing line of customers. When I finally made it to the counter, the employee behind it was unenthusiastic and borderline rude. She didn’t greet me, barely made eye contact, and didn’t even ask if I wanted to "add fries or a drink." I had to repeat my order three times because she kept getting it wrong, and when I mentioned a special request (no onions), I was met with a blank stare.
Cleanliness: Filthy Doesn’t Even Begin to Cover It
When I sat down, I immediately noticed that the entire dining area looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in days. The tables were sticky and covered in crumbs, and there were ketchup stains on the floor and chairs. I could hear the sound of a loud fan running from the kitchen, but when I looked over, I saw the workers using it as an excuse to avoid cleaning anything. The trash bins were overflowing, and there was a strong, unpleasant odor in the air that made eating there even more unbearable. How do you run a fast food restaurant and allow your dining area to look this gross?
Food Quality: Cold, Stale, and Not What I Ordered
When my meal finally arrived—after an excruciating 20-minute wait—the food was barely lukewarm. I ordered a Classic Bacon Cheeseburger, and when I took the first bite, it was clear the meat had been sitting under a heat lamp for far too long. The bacon was rubbery and chewy, and the lettuce was wilted and brown around the edges. The fries were soggy and limp—definitely not the crispy, golden fries I’ve come to expect from Wendy’s. To make matters worse, they completely messed up my order! I asked for a side salad, but they gave me a small order of fries (which I didn’t want) and left off the sauce I had asked for. When I brought it up to the counter, the employee seemed completely uninterested and offered no apology.
Wait Time: Unacceptable
I get that fast food places can get busy, but the wait time at this Wendy’s was ridiculous. There were only about 5 people in front of me, and yet it took over 30 minutes for my meal to arrive. I’m all for giving employees time to prepare food correctly, but this was absurd. I saw several other customers get frustrated and leave, and I honestly wish I had done the same.
Overall Experience: A Complete Letdown
This visit was beyond disappointing. Poor service, unsanitary conditions, and subpar food left me wishing I had gone anywhere else. I’ve had better experiences at drive-thrus that were half as busy as this location, and I’ve had better-tasting food from much smaller chains.
At the end of the day, a fast food restaurant is supposed to be quick, affordable, and easy. This Wendy's failed on all three counts. I left feeling unsatisfied, frustrated, and genuinely grossed out.
If you’re thinking about visiting this location, do yourself a favor and skip it. There are plenty of other fast food places nearby that will treat you with more respect and serve you fresher, hotter food. I’ll never be coming back here again.

Read moreI pull up at 8:00 pm on Sun, Sept 4, 2023 and see a long line of cars at the drive thru. So I figure, I'll park the car and walk in thinking I'll get faster service and an accurate order. I was sadly mistaken on both. The first Hispanic employee I encountered when I walked in and stood at the counter pretended she didn't see me. As I'm standing there waiting to have my order taken, there's several Hispanic women working the drive thru. ALL of them, including the one who's responsible for putting the burgers together, were goofing off and acting like small children. As I'm about to walk out since they're goofing off and ignoring me, all of a sudden one asks if she can help me. I order a $6.00 biggie meal, NO ONIONS OR PICKLES! OF COURSE THEY PURPOSELY PUT onions and pickles. So, I don't know this until I pull out and eventually get to my burger. So, of course I drive back. Well, the Hispanic teenager who PURPOSELY screwed up my order, she starts smirking and laughing like a small child. WHEN I comment on her disrespectful ignorance, she starts running her mouth. One of the other Hispanic females told her to be quiet, then they actually had to hold her and send her our back as the DISRESPECTFUL teenager was about to go all SAVAGE and jump the counter to attack like the Popeyes employees do. Not only are these Hispanic teenagers that cross the border from Lawrence, MA ignorant, disrespectful and unprofessional, they go all SAVAGE when they THEY make mistakes! The place was dirty, the employees were disrespectful goof offs, and savages ready to attack when confronted with their blatant mistakes. I normally go in there in the afternoons, first time I've gone in this late, and the last time. DON'T want the savages attacking when the sun goes down. It's NOT SAFE AT THIS PLACE AFTER 5:00 PM....this site won't let me post a picture of the receipt and screw up....
Read morekind of a long story but I feel as though people need to be aware that this is happening Can't believe..... So went through Wendy's drive through around 8:25pm last evening ordered a junior bacon cheeseburger drove up to second window first window was closed he let me no the total I handed him a $20 bill and he handed me my food and then handed me my change back i took a quick peek at it 3 ones and a 10 i scratch my head and said to my husband "is that a $7 Burger?" I noticed that I only had received $13 in change back. I had to honk my horn for the gentleman with the dark curly/wavy hair to come back and I said "how much is a junior bacon cheeseburger?" and without even asking us what was wrong he said "oh yes sorry" and turned to the register and grabbed the $5 bill sitting on the counter. I had this weird feeling that I was purposely short changed just by the way everything went down. he definitely didn't make change from my 20 and then put my change down on the counter and then pick it back up and accidentally leave a five-dollar bill behind .so just be sure you count your money at this establishment before you leave that window!!! if there's a line don't be quick to rush off count your change. I can't believe how many times that i have gone through a drive-thru and just stuck the change into my purse without even taking a look at it having this happen definitely makes it worthwhile to take a second and look. But hey accidents happen if they have somebody working the register that is absent-minded incompetent or maybe their fingers are just a little bit too sticky to be handling people's funds maybe they should consider to reconsider him for that job. thank you for reading I hope this post keeps this sort of thing from happening to other people not only here but in any other...
