Samurai Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Salinas

I used to come to this shop regularly when I was in H.S(2002ish) Only reason I stopped is because I always feel like I'm treated like a bad guy or a child. I get I look young for a 40 year old ,but I'm far from a teenager. I come from the fine food industry, where hospitality is the main reason folks would always come back...because we treated them like guest, not customers...nor did we stereotype. Whenever I order I always ask to please not put any topicco aka fish eggs because I'm highly allergic...but they always put them on top of my order... When I try to call back with the same number I made my Togo order with, they wouldn't answer (so I thought maybe because they closed mid day still)...but why would you answer when I called from my mother's phone shortly after my 3 calls beforehand?

I don't complain on reviews and usually give praise to a shop I reviewed... I have a pretty good reviewing record on here.. Im sorry if this upsets you, but I had to figure out another way of getting your attention to my issues every time. I don't like wasting money on something I have to give away or toss out because of a allergy thing.. I hope you do have a better innerstanding where I'm coming from. Peace and I...

This was my first time going there. I am glad we went in. We were greeted by a really sweet lady who had a great smile. We ordered the lemon..something roll off of the customer creations posted on the wall. It was very yummy!! We also ordered a sushi box 1. Everything we had was fresh and tasty. We took it to go as we were at an event across the street. It was ready pretty quick. Prices were really good for the portions we got. We were both very happy. The restaurant was very clean. We will be going back to try other items and recommending Samurai to others....

I'm fairly timid when it comes to trying new combinations in sushi rolls. However, this place provided a comforting environment and, most importantly, awesome sushi! I ordered a San Francisco Roll and tried a TNT Roll, and both were very tasty and satisfying. The atmosphere of the place feels very community-oriented, and from what I heard from the friends we met for dinner, the place is almost always packed with people. Whether you want a simple roll, something a bit more complex, or one of the other awesome dishes available on the menu, I highly recommend this...
