edit-I tried to message this privately on their Facebook page but was unable to.10/8/2023 My wife wanted to go to brunch and chose EVO because the online menu sounded good. We arrived around 1020am. The atmosphere was pleasant and there were maybe 10 tables max when we arrived.(total inside and outside) There seemed to be plenty of wait staff, busers and others delivering the food. We had water, tea and a mimosa while we waited for the food. I ordered a scrapple cristo that's advertised with their brunch fries. My wife ordered the classic benedict with brunch potatoes. A food runner sits my plate on the table and hands a hot plate to my wife who nearly drops it. My order said brunch fries and hers said brunch potatoes. I expected them not to be the same thing. No big deal but I wanted to check with the waitress to see if it was an error on the menu or the kitchen. The waitress walks by looks at the table and makes a statement, not a question. "Everything looks right." She doesn't stop but keeps walking to the next table. I manage to get her attention while she's at the other table and ask for some hot sauce. I plan to ask about the "brunch fries" when she returns. The waitress ends up dropping the hot sauce as she is passing the table in a rush. again I don't see where it's that busy. There are other waitresses, food runners and table busers. The only person that seems rushed is our waitress and it's unclear why. My wife cuts into her eggs benedict and it's clear they sat under the heat lamp too long and the poached egg is fully cooked. The waitress finally appears and as she is walking past the table she asks if we need boxes. I ask her to come over and my wife asks for poached eggs that are not cooked through, assuming they would come with hollandaise sauce. They did not. A food runner dropped them off and rushed away before anything could be said. We waited a few minutes for the waitress to check in. She did not. At this point my wife was hangry and just wanted the check and to leave. We walked to the host station and asked for the check. I see the waitress at nearly a jog pace come around the corner from the dinning room to the bar area. She sees us talking with the hostesses and walks up. I inform her she's the worst waitress we've ever had and we want the check so we can put this experience behind us. She brings the check back as the manager arrives to check on us. We pay the check and get our receipt. The manager wants to make things right but it's too late, we just want to leave. I state we won't be back again and they should stick to beer. Reality is, I will likely go back but it won't be for brunch and it won't be this year. All of this is minor and could have been mitigated by a halfway decent waitress. I'm an introvert, it's not in my dna to wave you down or shout across the room for you to check on us. Our receipt says we ordered at 1047am and checked out at 1136am. In that time we saw the waitress for maybe a total...
Read moreThe only way I could post is give one star. This restaurant and especially the customer service deserves 0! Absolutely never going back. I honestly rather go to McDonald’s and get better customer service. Ordered online. I ordered 2 Cobb salads and a burger. Both salads came with no dressing. No fries with the burger I paid for extra. I wanted my crab meat on the side with one salad and didn’t get it. So naturally I have drive back to the restaurant to get dressing. So the hostess goes to kitchen gives me one dressing. Hands me the fries the crab meat and dressing. Goes back to get another dressing for my second salad and a bag. Hands me the bag to bag myself. The fries were cold. I tried to give this place another try after the crab dip was gross. So I asked for the manager. He makes eye contact with me as the hostess is telling him I asked to see him. He proceeds to go back into the kitchen and disappears for five minutes. Finally comes doesn’t offer compensation of any type and then the hostess is hiding behind the counter laughing. I will be contacting the owner. I promise there’s so many other restaurants that will be more than happy to have my service. I used to be a waitress and now I’m a respiratory therapist in the hospital. That was terrible customer service. I hope no one else gets laughed at in front of a manager and then gets told have a great night. Also having to drive twice to get food. Normally I check the bag but my mother who is elderly picked the food up. She was treated rudely by the same girl as well. I walked out because atp I don’t want any extra food to compensate and honestly once I got home I didn’t even have an appetite. To spend $75 on 2 salads and a burger and experience this is distasteful. My mother even said why are you ordering here after the experience with the crab dip and crab cakes. But I learned my lesson. Never again! We are seafood people. I grew up crabbing and from Grasonville Md where the best seafood restaurants are! So I definitely have high expectations when it comes to crab meat. I didn’t really care to have the crab meat on the Cobb so I ordered on the side. They still charge you for the crab meat even if you don’t want it. I just wanted a chef salad...
Read moreUpscale restaurant attached to a well-regarded craft brewery. My entree (the Bistro Steak) was very good, tender and flavorful with mashed potatoes flavored with a touch of truffle oil. My wife's entree, the Oyster BLT, was tasty but flawed when a two-inch sliver of oyster shell turned up in one of the breaded oysters. "We don't even shuck them here!" the waitress exclaimed, but she took off half the price of the sandwich. My wife was also miffed that the restaurant would not allow her to substitute another form of potato for the fries; only a nondescript vegetable ($2.50 extra). The fries were not cooked twice as French fries normally are and so were limp and greasy rather than crunchy.
Our waitress was attentive and courteous, but other staff could use a tune-up on performance. The server brought out the food and looked at me in question. "The steak is mine," I said, and so he promptly gave that entree to my wife and her sandwich to me, turned and left. (I suspect that English was not his first language.) After dinner, I asked for a 6-pack of the brewery's Lot 6 IPA, which a sign on the bar advertised as on sale for $9.99. The bartender got the beer, rang it up, and gave me a slip charging me $12.99. I held up the sign and pointed to it, and he replied, "That brand isn't included in that sale." When I showed him that the brand depicted on the sign was indeed Lot 6, he rather grumpily left (presumably to ask the manager if he should honor the sale they were advertising), returned, and without apology charged the advertised price.
Evo is a fine brewery and has done a better job in the past as a restaurant, but its post-Covid avatar could use a thorough staff tune-up from the kitchen...
