Back Alley Barn "Saluda's Tavern" — Restaurant in Saluda

Went to the soft opening and I left content, sated, and happy. The food is so dang good. The sauces on the chicken are so goid you will miss it when you have eaten all your wings. I had the Mac n cheese with chicken tenders in the garlic parm sauce. Absolute perfection. The Mac was super creamy and yummy and the tenders were nice and crisp and the sauce mouthwatering. I also got the garlic cheese curds with marinara and oh they were all I could want in a fried cheese dish. The curds were nice and light and the acidity of the marinara cut through any fatty heaviness there may have been. Perfect combo. My mother had the teriyaki wings and I now know what I'll be having when they fully open. Is it a 1 and a half hour drive for wings? Yes. Is it worth it? Also yes.

For drinks, I had the purple passion. I will warn you, mix your drink first or you will get a mouthful of butterfly pea gin. I forgot that alcohol can sometimes sit in a layer on top of other liquids in a drink. Once stirred it's such a beautiful tasting drink it could be a lil dangerous cuz you could keep knocking them back like regular lemonade and get gin drunk. My friend let me try their Trevor's Night Out and my brain may have short circuited cuz it tastes just like a pb&j but liquid and zingy with alcohol. I don't know what kind of sorcery was involved to make it but it is a feat that deserves recognition.

This is an awesome little back alley spot and the appetizers were great but my burger was raw, they offered to make another one but I refused and they made it right by comping my meal. It seems there are some organizational and staffing issues. I wanted to love this place so bad. The atmosphere was top notch and the vibe was chill but my waiter was decently distant even before they got busy and when they did get busy everyone was running around like we had 3 different people check on us but we waited at least 30-45 minutes for food and some things never came, and a small but annoying thing was that our drinks were from a can not a fountain and therefore not bottomless. I put this review in not to harp on them but in hopes that it gets better because this place is awesome...

did not eat here, after seeing piles of "stuff" and dirty dishes stacked in front of the front door. very uninviting. Even more disturbing was the entry to the restrooms, down the stairs. filled with all kinds of junk, a dirty stinky old mop bucket with moldy water, ugly looking pan with old cleaning utensils and bags of what looked like dirty linens???? Husband enjoyed the Guidon beer, my wine was so cheap and bad, I did not drink it. Staff was just kind of standing around, dirty tables outside along with overflowing ashtrays.
