We love Armenta’s and have been going here for years. But we had a different experience yesterday. We arrived at 2:30, were told to sit wherever we like. We glanced around and there were only 4 tops available in the original dining area. We would be a party of 6 but only 3 of us had arrived and would need a bigger table. So we go to the newer addition and they tell us they are closed. So we go back to the main dining area. We chose a booth and decided we might could add a chair to the end. As the waitress arrived, we told her 2 more would be coming. She said the plates were too hot and it would be too crammed so we couldn’t sit there. She told us we had to be put on the waiting list. As we are having this conversation, she takes the menus away from us. My mother in law and I stayed in the booth. My niece gets up to put us on the “list”. Mind you, it’s 2:30 and two tables have cleared and there are probably about 4-5 open at this point. Two empty 4 tops side by side as well. After my niece put her name on the list, she starts walking towards the back to take the 3 year old restroom. The same waitress, points to the door and tells her “you need to go wait outside.” The toddler needed the bathroom. It was 95 and unnecessary. The level of rude yesterday was unmatched. Zero accommodation, zero tact and friendliness. We got up and left. Disappointed to say the least because I have always been a...

San Angelo is known for having great mexican food restuarants and Armenta's cafe is no exception. We had the beef fajita quesadilla's and the chicken enchiladas with the jalapeno sauce and they were both amazing. This place has Pibb Xtra (Mr. PIBB) on "tap" which is a major plus for me and is hard to find at many restuarants!

While the food and service are amazing, the location and parking is a bit of a pain. I honestly drove right past it om the first pass as it isn't incredibly obvious from the main road. The parking lot needs the lines redrawn because it has a strange layout that isn't intuitive which means people kind of just park where they can, not where they should. This can make parking larger vehicles difficult which is oddly an issue at many restuarants in San Angelo.

Don't let my parking complaints detour you though! The food is amazing and you should definitely go try this place. You may just want to go in a smaller vehicle or be ready to park at an odd angle with your...

Absolutely terrible. I'm from Sanangelo but live in Denver for a few years now and come visit once a year. I was SO exited to get some good authentic Mexican food with my family. We haven't been here but gave it a try because of the good reviews. Don't know if it was an off day or what but every, single, thing they brought out was DISGUSTING. The sour cream enchiladas tasted like boiled milk for the sauce no flavor dry chicken stale tortillas the salsa was basically spicy tomato water no seasoning or texture the queso was like velveta and the chicken Monterey was somehow dry and watery? Not sure how they pulled that off. And when I sent my food back after 2 bites the chef stuck his head out of the door and stared me down. Obviously young probably doesn't have any experience. I usually never leave reviews like this but I will NEVER be going here again and recommend you don't either. Ruined the last day of my vacation so...

Came here on a date with friends, the parking is limited around the building is right off the street but across the street there is more parking, a small lot and tight but offers more space. The restaurant has two entrances, the main looking one and one off to the left of the front entrance, almost looks like another restaurant but they are the same. This place gets packed, almost every table was taken and the servers were doing their best to keep up. We were brought chips and salsa to start, and they took our drink order, in terms of alcohol they only offer beer. The soda mix is coke products. They took our order and we waited maybe 10 minutes and they brought it out piping hot. The food was OK, the enchilada sauce was delicious and the chili rellano was very tasty. The rice, beans and queso were ok. If I go back I would go to the other side of the restaurant seems less packed.

I love the coziness of this restaurant. As soon as you walk in you are in the main space. There is a second part that is more of a patio style. The art and decor is an experience and great eye candy as you survey the room. We were able to choose our seats and drinks (coke products ) came quickly. We were served crispy chips and salsa. The salsa was warm and pleasantly spicy. The menu has lots of enchilada options. It is not a big menu, but there is something for everyone. They have a kids menu with really reasonable pricing. The food came out quickly and it was hot and fresh. The only drawback was the kids plate also came out hot and even though we told our child not to, she accidently touched it while trying to cut her enchiladas. The fresh tortillas are so warm and comforting. Our meal was satisfying. There is a dessert menu.

This restaurant was recommended by staff at a place we were visiting for the week, so we went after a perusal of google reviews. First, parking is pretty lousy, belying a small restaurant and many patrons. The two of us had about a 5 to 10 minute wait to be seated for lunch as it was quite crowded. Service was good considering the volume of customers, and chips and salsa were served promptly. Regarding the chips and salsa - they were excellent. We each ordered sour cream chicken enchiladas and they arrived relatively promptly - again, considering the fullness of the restaurant. The enchiladas were pretty good, however, the chicken was a bit dry. We received our checks and paid. All in all, a pretty great Mexican restaurant in San Angelo, with very good prices vs portions.
