First off, I have to say that the repurposed building is such a great aesthetic. The sharp blue paint and the garage door made it feel like it pulling into a high end auto shop but for your energy.
After you walk in, you're greeted with a bar to the right with a couple of cool window seats to enjoy the car's passing by. On the left hand side, a retail location with all there grinds and different K-Cups.
We ordered our flat whites and a espresso and a Americano.
Out back they had a beautiful landscaped patio. It was actually quite full of people and I had to find the coolest spots that weren't already taken. So no that there's actually some really cool spots.
I would say you can fit 20 people back there comfortably.
I was privileged enough to be shown the back of the coffee house. I'll tell you it smells so good back there.
It was awesome and I hope you enjoyed the great explanations of how everything's taken and done in the back. I think this was a great opportunity to show all the beautiful blends that they get shipped in.
The K-Cups in-house are really cool as well.
Free rain coffee in St. Angelo is a definite spot to sit at or get coffee if you're just passing through as well.

Read moreMy husband and I recently visited Free Rein coffee shop and unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. The coffee was far from satisfactory; it tasted like diluted brew, lacking the rich flavor one expects. When I requested a milk substitute, my drink barely resembled coffee, appearing as if it had simply a few drops of milk added to watered-down coffee. I noticed the barista emptying an oat milk box, which gave the impression they were cutting corners rather than providing fresh ingredients.
My husband's coffee fared no better—what should have been a balanced brew was overwhelmed by an excessive amount of caramel syrup, masking any hint of actual coffee.
It's a shame because the cashier was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. However, the quality of the coffee we received was among the worst we've ever encountered. I hope they can improve their coffees/lattes...
Read moreLonghorn Coffee Co. embodies all the reasons we love supporting local owned "Mom n Pop" businesses. We walked in not expecting much more than trying some coffee, maybe buying some, and being out the door in a few minutes. Well, an hour or so later we finally left with a bag full of awesome coffee! True to Scott's word, his roasts are smooth, flavorful, and lacking the bitterness that turns many off of coffee.
We were greeted and given a sample while having the shop/blends explained to us. We were then introduced to the rest of the staff. Scott happened to be roasting beans when we arrived, so he gave us a tour and walked us through the entire process. By the end we felt more like new friends hanging out than customers.
Thank you all for the best coffee shop experience we've ever had! We'll drop in to see you again next time...
