We have been customers of Newk’s For several years and one of the main reasons we always come back is that it is always clean and the food is always fresh. Our most recent visit was no exception and I’d like to share about an extra extraordinary employee. I do not know this individual. I had to approach a manager to ask for his name before leaving so that I could write my review. As we sat down after ordering and we’re waiting for our food, I often look around the establishment, watching people eat and also watching workers as they’re doing their daily routine. An employee named RJ really stood out to me. Imagine this…you’re sitting at your table waiting for your meal and you witness RJ zipping left, right and back-and-forth across the room. In a span of under five minutes, he could be seen taking trays of food to people’s tables, Refilling the tea jugs, Wiping down tables, Clearing dirty tables, positive interactions with customers, and even went so far as to grab someone a small container of Parmesan cheese from the self service area. When the customer requested the Parmesan cheese, he could’ve easily told them where the self service table was, but he did not. This says so much about his character and his passion for the job that he does. As a matter of fact when I went to request his name from the manager, another worker informed me that RJ was currently fixing something in the bathroom. This is the kind of person that any employer and manager dreams to have on their payroll. My family travels a lot because my daughter plays travel softball, so as you can imagine, we frequent lots of restaurants. So when someone does something as amazing as this, You better believe I’m going to rave about it. We always witness workers doing their job. But it is not very often that you see someone doing their job with such a purpose. The way he moved around the building was swift, precise, and with urgency. It seemed so natural to him, but he most definitely stood out. I would like to propose that when you are looking for your next manager position for Newk’s, that you put this gentleman at the top of Your ‘YES’ List. He has all of the characteristics of a go-getter and someone who you can tell is very passionate about giving his all! We always say that we will come back to eat at Newk’s but RJ really sealed the deal for us! What an...
Read moreMy family went to the soft opening and had the best time ever! The 10in personal pizza was aooo delicious and cheesy and fully topped with pepperoni and sausage. Husband’s roast beef sandwich was juicy and very tender, paired with freshly made coleslaw, not your average sweet coleslaw but more savory and it was good. Son had a kids version pepperoni pizza and he ate it up! The sweet tea is phenomenal! Doesn’t leave you a weird coat, after taste in your mouth like most sweet teas do. Manager told us they invested in a RO water filter system to make thier teas delicious and crisp. We were invited again to a private opening and got to sample the pesto chicken sandwich and it was so good! Never had a sandwich like before and I’m glad I chose it. Husband got the spicy sicilian pizza and boy when they mean spicy, it’s spicy but in a flavorful way, not a burn in your mouth and not feel your taste buds again. It was great! We got to try the strawberry and chocolate cake. OH MY GOODNESS this is what cake is suppose to taste like! Like the movie Matilda where Bruce had to eat that whole chocolate cake and it was soo moist and delicious! The strawberry... you can taste real strawberries! I told my husband when it’s my birthday I want the full big size strawberry cake! Can’t wait to go back! Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable about thier menu. I’m so glad I work across the street and will see...
Read moreLet's start with the strawberry cake. It is the best thing they have on the menu. You can tell that the cake and the frosting might be homemade more so than the brownie that we tried. The buttercream frosting was light and fluffy and there were strawberry seeds all through the cake indicating that it's real strawberry in there. For the amount of money that we spent the sandwiches should have been bigger. The meat on both of our sandwiches was rather tough. My husband had the French dip I had the cheese steak sandwich. We pulled several pieces of meat out as we were biting and the meat got caught in our teeth excessively. The potato salad left a lot to be desired. It literally tasted like store-bought mashed potatoes with a sweet relish that was mixed in it. The portion was also quite small. My sandwich was very flavorful but that's about all I can say about it. With the menu also being behind the customer when they step up to the register was a little off-putting. For us this place was a new thing to try so we had no idea what was on the menu and had to keep turning backwards to refer to it. We were not offered a menu to keep in front of us even if there was...
