A great little spot. Evidently you can either eat in the ‘cafe’ section and be waited on, or order from the counter to go or eat in the open area near the counter.

We opted for the cafe, quick and attentive service, very friendly and knowledgeable waitperson.

An interesting menu with enough variations that I had trouble deciding (not sure if it’s a function of my age, but more and more frequently I’ll look over a menu and find only one or two things that sound good). Fortunately my dining comparing was having the same ‘problem’ deciding from four or five of the entrees. So we settled on two of them, the Oriental Chicken Salad and a Bacon, Tomato, Lettuce and Avocado Sandwich, which we split between us.

The waitperson had the kitchen split them for us, a nice touch.

Both were excellent, lots of chicken on the sale, very fresh greens and a perfect amount of piquant dressing. The sandwich was on wonderful, fresh sourdough bread, a great blend of flavors. Everything seemed extremely fresh and well handled.

Both the cafe and the order counter were quite busy, but everything seemed to be going well, as there was a constant flow of people finishing up as more came in.

Weekdays, open til 5 pm. On Sat, the store closes at 3 pm. Be there before 2:45 pm.

This is the best place to get Chinese Chicken Salad on hot summer days. During summer months, they sell 800+ Chinese chicken salad.

Personally, Comforts Chinese Chicken Salad will be my deathbed meal as I crave for every few weeks especially on too hot to cook summer days. The big box (looks like Chinese take out box) of CCS will feed 2 adults for dinner. They have marinated tofu (replace chicken) for Vegetarian salad. We often get Tofu Chinese salad for friends practicing Halal or Vegetarian. If anybody is allergic to sesame seeds or almond, you could ask one the staff to make those ingredients separately packaged for you, then they will make a new box of salad without those ingredients but on the side (in a ziplock bag) to take home.

Ive been a long time customer of Comforts for 25 years+, went through the pandemic and remodels. Have provided Chinese Chicken salads to my family and friends. Today I bought 6 bottles of dressing and one chicken salad at a register at which I asked for a roll. Cashier said she didnt have any rolls but I could pick one up at the other checkout. There were 10-15 customers in line with numbers. I quickly asked for the roll and was told I'd have to get in back of the line because they are no longer complimentary, Im guessing. I wish I could have retrieved my tip from the first transaction to pay for the roll at this point. It was embarrassing as I got the evil eye from both customers and employees after having spent $75 there. I said "forget it" and left. I admit Im not in the best frame of mind because my niece's house just burnt down to the ground in Altadena and I bought the salad and dresdsngs for them as they are staying nearby now.
