The dining experience at Baan Thai last night was a disaster. Several dishes didn't meet the expectations, and the handling of our feedback by the manager/owner was unprofessional and disrespectful.
Last week we got some fried rice and drunken noodle to go from baan Thai. We liked it and wanted to dine in. We always want to support a small business.
We ordered chicken satay - it was very dry and chewy to eat. It didn’t look fresh. 0/5
Baan Thai Sampler Platter - chicken spring rolls were over cooked - 3/5 Pot stickers very dry as well - 2/5 Crab Rangoon tasted fresh and nice -4.5/5 Vegetable spring rolls - 3/5 over cooked.
Kids chicken noodle was a disaster. It was not fresh food that was served . My friend wanted to see why kids were not eating and he tasted it and spit the whole thing out. How can you serve stale food?
Panang Curry - 3/5 it was on in taste but not great about it.
Basil fried rice with extra egg and cashews was good -5/5.
The server was more focused on the phone rather than service. She did not even check with us on the spice level of the food.
When we mentioned the chicken satay was not good and the chicken noodle for kids. She called the manager/owner and he started yelling at his employee saying whenever the food is not good she needs to show it to him and not to discard it. He went to the trash can to look at it. He is not an employer whom I would look to work for. Then he started yelling at us saying the good should not be consumed if it is not good, we showed him the complete plate how it was served to us then he went in looking for chicken satay in trash can. I am surely not coming back to this business for sure. I would have given 3 starts at least but with this kind of behavior, would definitely be a negative star.
As a customer, encountering such behavior can be extremely off-putting. The server's lack of attentiveness, coupled with the manager/owner's response to valid concerns, shows a lack of customer service skills and an inability to handle criticism constructively.
Yelling at an employee in front of customers, especially for trying to dispose of unsatisfactory food, is inappropriate and creates an uncomfortable atmosphere for everyone present. Moreover, being yelled at as a customer when sharing legitimate feedback about the food is not only disrespectful but also reflects poorly on the establishment's professionalism and ability to handle customer complaints.
A good business owner or manager should handle complaints with grace, respect, and a willingness to rectify the situation. Engaging in arguments, blaming staff in front of customers, and raising voices not only fails to address the issue but also drives customers away.
This negative encounters has impacted me as a customer and the perception of this place, overshadowing any positive aspects of the dining experience. My feedback should serve as constructive criticism, highlighting areas for improvement in customer service and overall experience for the business...
Read moreMet a friend at the restaurant on Friday evening at 8:45 p.m.. Restaurant closes at 10:00 p.m.. Seated ourselves, there was only one other party in the restaurant, a rather large party that was moderately loud, but no other patrons at the time, so not busy. After 5 minutes, waitress came to table to ask what drinks we wanted. I said a unsweet tea, friend wanted water. I had to repeat my order for tea several times as if she was not really listening. Another 4-5 minutes later, finally received the tea, no straw, no silverware either. I got up to grab both off another empty table nearby. Another 5 minutes later waitress returns to ask for our dinner order. We ordered the same entree--Pad Thai with tofu, #1 spicy. Soup is extra, and not inexpensive either so did not order. Usually soup comes with the entree, but not here. Egg drop soup is $4.99 extra! That is the least expensive soup. The entree is $11.99 on up depending on the meat/add in. We did not get it with Tofu, it came with Chicken. We would have told the waitress when we first discovered this, but she was no where to be seen and by the time she came out of the back, we had already pulled out the chicken and were dining on the noodles. It just was not worth the wait or the hassle to complain. It was late by then, 9:10 pm when we got the entree. So we ate what we were given, I never was offered a tea refill despite being empty for half of the meal. Waitress asked if we wanted to split the bill and we affirmed. But when the bill came it was not split so that was that. Maybe a language barrier? The only other employee we saw, who did not introduce herself, stopped by as we were leaving to ask how our meal was. I told her that we got chicken instead of tofu, it was tasty and she asked if we told the waitress. I said no, we are leaving now. So it is not the worst thai food, but the worst service (for a Friday night they should be busier and better staffed) and very expensive for the ambiance of the restaurant, the cost of the food and that everything is an add on that other comparable restaurants give you as part of the entree. I really love Thai Essan & Noodle House because they have excellent service, a beautiful updated interior with a lot of lighting, reasonable prices for the food (yes, you get soup included with your entree, a bowl of fried chips and refills for your drink of choice). I will not be returning to Baan Thia and do not...
Read moreSo I guess I once rated baan Thai 5 stars many years ago. I used to mainly go to get Thai tea as the food is a bit pricey for me. I haven’t eaten here in over 2 years I believe maybe longer. But I would still go in to get a Thai tea as a treat. I went in today and the lady up front said hello how can i help you no smile but not rude or anything. Until I mentioned I just wanted a Thai tea please, she replied “THATS ALL”. I said yes please. She then said that’s all I was like yea I want to take a break from coffee so I want to drink a Thai tea while I smiled about it since I was happy being that I have not had one from a restaurant In Over a year. She didn’t seem happy about it. Like I was offending her that I wasn’t eating. The restaurant was completely empty. I didn’t get upset but I felt a little disappointed as I remember them being very polite and respectful. But I think these are new owners and if so it shows. I can deal with unhappy or even slightly rude people but I can’t deal with paying money for a product and it being bad, that leads me to why I changed my rating from 5 stars to 2. The Thai tea was bad. Tasted watery, kinda tasted like regular tea not Thai tea with nothing but milk and water. 4$ isn’t a lot but it’s wasted money combined with the poor attitude, I won’t be going back again. This is just my honest review of my personal experience. Maybe yall will have a better one. but I’m disappointed as I used to like this place and the old...
