When I took the photos I was sure I was going to eat a delicious meal but I was wrong. First let me start by saying I’m a huge Ramen Noodle fan especially the Japanese authentic ones and I’ve been to many restaurants here in San Antonio who specialize in Ramen. Just to mention a few, SUK It, Ito Ramen, Nama….. well anyways I’ve developed a taste for great Ramen and today at around 12:20 am we walked in and ordered these two Ramens it came out to almost $50 with drinks and a bag of chips and I was left very disappointed as the shrimp tasted like it was dead for hours before frozen or cooked it had this foul taste like rotten, the broth was so flavorless with no cream look to it, I’m also in the food industry and it looked and tasted a day old, I understand it was near closing but a restaurant doing something like ramen should always hold high standards and use fresh ingredients. The crab was imitation and there I just believe is wrong especially when I am paying a pricey amount for noodles, don’t cut corners come on use real crab! The flavor of the broth just ruined everything even the noodles tasted like I was eating noodles with plain water. We have been here before once and it was better but still not there, today has us on the verge of never returning I hope we can, but the broth seems water base, but to watery, I do enjoy a bone broth that has cooked 24/48 hours. SUK It the restaurant is definitely #1, I wish one day I can return, and see a difference because I feel this place has so much potential I will end this saying the place is very nice, and beautiful, the staff is nice, the menu is great, and the time it stays open is amazing. I also live 5 minutes away, and I love ramen, I can definitely be a loyal customer if things take a change.

I’d also mention it was 12:20am the place closes at 1am, and the guy didn’t want to let us dine in, after asking again he changed his mind, and let us dine in, so thank you. we we’re finished at 12:42am.

Pros: beautiful environment, nice staff, fast service.

Cons: bad watery broth, flavorless broth, cutting corners on fresh food, description of ramen says spicy, and literally no spice what so ever, says closes at 1am but doesn’t let you dine in 40 minutes...

Went to try this newly opened Japanese restaurant. First off, I used the Google reservation service and worked pretty quickly and confirmed my request pretty quickly. I say within 4 minutes. When our party of 3 got there, we stood in line until ot was our turn and told the cashier that we had made reservations. He acknowledged the reservations but it wasn't needed at the time. We ordered the beef bulogi, Tonkatsu ramen, squid and chicken combo, and a rainbow roll a bit after. Oh gyousa was they spelled it was also ordered. I personally did not try one but my wife and daughter did and said it was decent. The beef bulogi was a bit salty and peppery. Also bulogi normally is sliced thin, their version was a bit thicker. However thisis a Japanese restaurant so I didn't expect great bulogi here. My daughter had the ramen and the broth was nice and light. The pork belly was perfect. However the ramen needed to steep a bit longer. The noodles came out chunky and in the chunky bits, you can tell it wasn't cooked through. I had the squid and chicken combo which also came on a hot plate like the bulogi. I really liked my dish. I ate it all. The chicken Teriyaki was good and well seasoned. The squid was perfectly cooked. And had the soft snap that told me the squid was nice and fresh.

This place opened today, on April 1, 2022. I felt bad for the cashier. He was the only person working the front. There were no runners or busboys. It was whoever was available to clear tables. I saw the chef and the sushi chef each clean and collected the dirty plates. Also the sweet tea ran out but I didn't want to bother them to make more so I opted for the unsweetened.

The decor is pretty cool. I really like the anime posters on the walls. Most were ones we know and are our favorite. When you walk in, there's televisions that show random Japanese cooking shows which are personally super entertaining.

All in all, it was pleasant, and the sole cashier was so pleasant and running food to the tables looked exhausting. I hope they hire more staff, u can see his place being a cool hangout spot.

I do want to try their bento ox meals....

So don't get me wrong, i am on board with everyone else wanting a late night Japanese place in SA. We need something like this because there is certainly the demographic for a place like this. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. I really did like being in the restaurant when i first visited. The food i got was alright at best. I felt it was a bit lacking in flavor. But i chalked it up to a new restaurant still trying to find their stride.

I waited about a month before trying their late night menu. Did i use uber eats? Yeah, but i don’t think that had any play in the food itself because it was really disappointing. The bao bun was very small and relied on a sauce for its flavor. The packaging was also poor because it was wrapped in tin foil and caused the bun to fall apart. I understand the use of foil to keep the bun warm, but maybe also use some wax paper to prevent the bun from sticking to the foil and ripping apart upon opening. For $6, it could have been way better. The pork belly skewers were probably the worst. So price point is ok, $2 per skewer isn't bad. However it was so thinly sliced and while seasoned with what seemed to me as a generic steak seasoning, it had absolutely no salt on it at all and because it was so thinly sliced, felt overcooked. The steam dumplings were a bit more redeeming as the flavor was decent and you get about 6 for $6. However, i didn’t like the fact that my dumplings had a dipping sauce poured all over it. I would have appreciated if i got a small side cup of the sauce for me to dip in to.

Over all after these two times eating their food, i’d give it a 3/10. I would certainly go back if I was told that they have seasoned their food a bit better and worked on the packaging for to go items. I really want to like this place but I’m going to have to pass until...

How far can $50 go? In the context of the trying-too-hard-to-be-clever punny named "Time To 8", the answer is, not very far at all. . Should have paid more heed to other reviewers. Alas, was really craving some 蔥油餅, and this was the only place that offered delivery with them! I am sad to report that @ the very premium price of $5 for a single pancake, it would have been a far more worthwhile choice to take an Uber to the Asian grocery store to buy an entire package of 8 to 10 frozen ones for practically the same price! Same goes for pretty much everything else. Buying the frozen versions would have been not only me expensive, but the tasteful pleasure would have been on par if not better. Bibigo, I Mei, Wei Chan are a few recommended frozen food companies that would serve you better! Taste profile for all items were mediocre at best. $6 Takoyoki Balls were probably the best, but even then, I have had far better for less dinero. The supposedly main course sized Donburi Gyudon was nowhere with the price, but it was at least pretty good. The 75 percent rice was good but obviously more meat would have been nice for $12. Not to be boringly dissimilar in my assessment, but the soups also are not recommended when they are so pricey. TLDR, eat here expecting average but overpriced food. When you consider value, this place is highly recommended- to avoid!

*UPDATED REVIEW 6/6/22*: This place must’ve changed owners because it shows. It’s like it isn’t even the same restaurant. The menu changed, they no longer offer sushi and many items are gone. The tonkotsu broth is plain and flavorless, with over cooked noodles. The pork buns are hard and the gyoza is definitely out of a store bought pack. The egg rolls were filled with dough and meatless. Our meal came with no dipping sauces and no chopsticks. Such a bummer to see a good place go downhill. We won’t be back here. Original review: Just happened to stumble by this yummy new spot during their soft opening. Saw it when driving by and decided to stop in. The aesthetic is great (bonus points for the anime posters) and the place was clean. The host was very kind and helpful. Gyoza were pan fried and slightly greasy but still tasted great despite it. The spicy salmon roll was fresh and tasty. The star of the show was the ramen! The tonkotsu ramen had great flavor, perfect spice, and wonderful veggies that are not usually added at other ramen restaurants (bok choy, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts). What a pleasant experience for a soft opening! I cannot wait for their grand opening, we will be back!
