Well, if you wanna try something different to get away from the usual same old taco and pancake restaurants, then cook at home because this place is not gonna satisfy your urge to live a little. Service is poor, like really poor, so so bad. I know we're still trying to get people to come back to work, and yes it's like that everywhere but this place really doesn't try. We came in a few times before and the place was practically empty so we were told that they were under staffed and it would be like a 30 min wait. We decided to leave both times and try again later. So today was that day, we came in and the place was practically empty. We got seated right away and before the 3 of us were seated we were asked what we wanted to drink. Never been there before, hadn't seen a menu, and didn't know what to say. We just ordered coffee. It was served with 2 creamers on the side of each cup. Not creamers in a bowl or in a cup, not three or one but just two. Then two of the cups had rims covered in lipstick, not a light tint but like it was tasted by a woman with heavy lipstick before being brought to the table. I mean a half blind mole would have seen it, especially in this well lit restaurant but he still brought it to us like that. I told him that we needed clean cups after he asked again what we wanted to order, I told the server we were still downloading the menu and he recommended an appetizer of sweet biscuits. We said go for it and continued to look through the menu. The appetizer came out and was good but by that time our black tea tasting coffee (seriously weak coffee here) was empty. He came, took our order and rushed away. 15 minutes later a different server brought out the food and asked if we needed anything, we asked for more coffee. The coffee came but no creamers and by that time we were plenty disappointed and decided not to even ask for any. The food looked amazingly plated with little toothpick flags that said Alamo Biscuit but honestly the food was just ok. Potato hash was swimming in grease or oil and the biscuits were biscuits. Not mouth watering, nobody's momma was going to get slapped, just your everywhere good buttermilk biscuits. Nothing stood out like you couldn't get anywhere else and nothing made me think we need to come here again. So, all in all. If you're willing to deal with below average post COVID service and want to have some amazing pics of well played food for the gram then this is definitely one of those try it once to say you did...
Read moreMy friend and I went for brunch on last Sunday. We were seated quickly, luckily they were not crazy busy. We had a very sweet waitress. I ordered one of appetizer flights and mango lemonade for my breakfast. It was ok, the brisket was tasty the biscuits were cold and a bit gummy inside. My friend ordered biscuits and gravy, eggs and coffee, her biscuits were also cold and a bit gummy inside. I only ate the most of one of the biscuits, the one with the brisket on it and decided to take the rest home (thinking that my kiddos can rewarm it and eat it), so I asked for a to go box and also a to go cup for my lemonade (not realizing that it would be an additional charge). The sweet waitress brought them both back with our receipts, I noticed that there was an additional charge of $4 for the mango lemonade and $2 for the blackberry jelly (my favorite thing that I had that day - so good). Had our waitress informed me that there was an additional charge for the items, I would have had the opportunity to decide if I wanted to pay the additional fees and I still would have had the jelly but that’s all. My friend requested the manager. The manager, Alondra- came over with the refund. She came over with a very ugly attitude and spoke in that super sweet but very demeaning voice. She tells me if you didn’t want to pay for your food, then maybe you shouldn’t go out to eat. I told her that’s not the problem, the problem that I had was not being informed that there was an additional charge so I assumed that it was free. She was horrible, ruined my day and turned my stomach. I will not be back to this location because of the horrible manager. The prices were very reasonable- in my opinion. My friends and I usually pay a lot more for our meals, my only thing was that I like to be informed. She said that it was on the drink menu (the additional charge) - well I wasn’t provided a drink menu, our sweet waitress just started verbally listing the non alcoholic drinks to me. Alondra was...
Read moreWe had a really disappointing experience here on Mother’s Day. We had a reservation for 12:00p.m., but we didn’t get seated until almost 1:30. No one kept us updated on what was going on, aside from saying the kitchen was backed up. Meanwhile, we watched several parties who arrived after us get seated before us. No one offered us water, a seat at the bar, or anything to make the wait more manageable. It just felt like we were completely ignored.
The hostess was also pretty rude to my father-in-law, telling him to move without acknowledging him or even speaking respectfully. When we were finally seated, we were placed next to a smaller group, and part of our seating was taken away to accommodate them.
At the table, things didn’t improve much. We had to ask multiple times for basic things like water and silverware. A carafe was dropped off with plastic cups still stacked on top, and I waited a long time just to get the Topo Chico I ordered. The food was okay, but at that point, it was hard to enjoy anything.
We talked to the manager, but that was disappointing too. He didn’t apologize or acknowledge what we were saying—just said the meal would be comped and walked away. When a server came with pastries we had already declined, the manager snapped at him to take them back, and the server rolled his eyes at us and walked off.
Even after all that, we still tipped our waitress because we could see she was doing her best. But the whole experience really put a damper on what should have been a special day with our family. To top it off, my mother-in-law ended up feeling sick later that afternoon, which made things even worse.
I’m sharing this so others know what to expect. I understand holidays can be hectic, but kindness, communication, and basic hospitality should never be overlooked—especially on a day meant for...
