Babe's Old Fashioned Food — Restaurant in San Antonio

Great location! My husband got the cheeseburger with tater tots, I got the veggie pizza, my son got the chicken nuggets with fries and then cheese sticks with ranch. They have the best ranch around! It would be so neat if they would start making this ranch and selling it in bigger containers. The veggie pizza is the best also, the crust always well done and never greasy.

We've been goig to the Huebner location for a few years now and have almost always enjoyed the food. On Sunday, my husband accidentally left his cell phone on the table. We realized and called the restaurant about 15 minutes after we had left. A waitress said "I just cleaned the table and there was no phone." We still returned to take a look. The manager tried helping us find it, to no avail. We noticed the security cameras and asked if video could be reviewed. The manager gave us the phone number to the corporate office because they keep the video; then we left. I get a phone call saying that after we left, one of the female employees said, "let me go check the women's restroom," and found it there on the counter. So I'm happy that we got our phone back, but the whole situation feels shady. Since the corporate office never returned my voicemail, I called again today, asking if footage could still be reviewed. The response was, "I heard you got the phone back, so what?" When I briefly explained the situation, the response was "oh yeah, those cameras don't work," "I guess the manager doesn't know they're broken," and "I don't know if/when they'll be fixed." I am very disappointed in the way this situation was handled. I am even more disappointed if employees there try to steal customer's items instead of turning them in. I understand we were forgetful and that here IS a chance that another customer/child truly did take the phone then leave it in the women's bathroom; that is why video would be great. Adding to my review below from a year ago. Stopped by again today to have lunch with the family. These folks are still putting out quality 5 star food. We had the spicy chicken strips, burger, fried mushrooms and other sides. You can tell these guys and gals put love and pride into their beautifully presented dishes. So tasty and hit the spot. Even though there aren’t servers here and it’s an order from the counter type of spot, they more than earned the 25% tip we left. Also couldn’t help but notice the genuine love the cooks showed an elderly customer who wasn’t feeling well. Classy folks running this place!

Family and I came here today, Sunday, for lunch. I haven’t been to a Babe’s for over 20-25 years but was curious if the fried mushrooms, chicken strips, fries, burgers, and honey mustard were what I fondly remembered from back in the day. I felt like it was a slim chance that the food of my younger years would still hold a candle but these folks delivered. From the sweet lady with the classy hairdo running the order taking to the sweet gents running the kitchen, 5 stars. I had to tell the staff how appreciative I was that they are still keeping quality high while staying authentic to their tried and true recipes. These guys take pride in their craft and I love that.
