El Cevichero never disappoints—and our most recent visit was a perfect reminder of why it’s one of my favorite spots for flavorful, creative food with unforgettable presentation. We started with the shrimp jalapeño poppers, and they were nothing short of spectacular. These aren’t your average poppers—they’re huge, bursting with flavor, and served in one of the most unique presentations I’ve ever seen. Each popper hangs from a string by a clothespin, suspended between two sleek metal rods. It’s a showstopper the moment it hits the table—and the taste absolutely lives up to the hype. Smoky, spicy, creamy, and perfectly cooked. Next, we had the birria egg rolls, and I honestly think this might be my new favorite way to eat birria. Not only is it a cleaner, easier way to enjoy this traditionally juicy dish, but the egg roll wrapper adds a satisfying crunch that takes the whole experience up a notch. The flavor is rich and savory, with just the right amount of spice. For my main dish, I kept it classic with the shrimp ceviche—a simple but incredibly fresh mix of shrimp, cucumber, red onion, cilantro, and avocado. I always eat mine with their homemade tostadas, which are perfectly crisp and the ideal vessel for scooping up every bite. I’ve tried several of their ceviche options in the past, and every single one has been delicious. You really can’t go wrong. To drink, I went with the cantarito, served in the traditional clay cup. It’s citrusy, smooth, and super refreshing—an ideal pairing for everything we ate. If you can, definitely make it in time for their happy hour to enjoy it all at a great value. Whether you’re coming for the drinks, the unique presentations, or the bold, fresh flavors—El Cevichero is a must-visit.

I was in the mood for seafood and saw this place on my map search. The restaurant was at one time La Luna a Puerto Rican restaurant and thought they may have just changed the name. Well, FYI, they are not related. The place is cute inside, sort of narrow and small. It was very crowded so my first thought either it's the food or the drinks. I later found out it was both. We sat in the small patio outside in the back. Not much of a view but space was open enough that there was a breeze. From the hostess to the waitress we were attended and catered to. We lacked for nothing. The food was delicious and I am very picky when it comes to seafood. It either smells and tastes too wild or it was made as if it came from a chef and not a cook. This was pleasantly one of the best places I've eaten shrimp ceviche. Their drinks were also good. Alittle pricey but good. So if in the mood for simple ceviche try this place out and judge for yourself. Sometimes a hole in the wall is best place to eat. Enjoy!

Update ☀️ Summer 2025 New place with indoors seating. Pretty awesome decorations. Very Latin vibe, delicious food. Still good quality, tasteful food and 80% of the times is great service. First time this year was outside in the evening really nice and refreshing place to eat and enjoy sunset. Carolina was our server and she did sooo good we came back three weeks after. It was also pack but with the outside area closed. So we had to seat at the bar and the girl bartending didn't have a great attitude. But Caro was so busy with lots of tables we didn't get the chance to be serve by her. Even when we waited at the bar. Lol. Try this place, definitely support to local business and really good experience to have in San Antonio. Must visit for deli sea food and tacos. First review long ago: Excelent place to each fresh delicious ceviche, have a beer BYOB, enjoy music and be outdoors with shade. Recommended and looking forward coming back to try the hawaian ceviche.

A Taste of Coastal Mexico – Simply Divine!

Dining at El Cevichero was an absolute treat! From the moment we stepped in, the vibrant yet relaxing atmosphere transported us straight to a coastal paradise. The colorful decor and lively ambiance set the perfect tone for an evening of indulgence.

The service was nothing short of phenomenal. The staff was warm, attentive, and eager to ensure every detail of our experience was perfect. They provided fantastic recommendations and made us feel right at home.

As for the food – wow! Every dish was bursting with fresh, authentic flavors. The ceviche was a standout, with its perfectly balanced tangy citrus and the freshest seafood. Whether it was the classic shrimp ceviche, the zesty octopus tostadas, or the rich aguachile, every bite was a celebration of Mexican coastal cuisine. Pair it with a refreshing michelada or agua fresca, and you’re in for a treat!

If you’re a fan of seafood and crave authentic Mexican flavors, El Cevichero is an absolute must-visit. I’m already counting down the days until I...
