After hearing and reading about this Chicken location for so many years I decided to stop in and give it a try. Let me just say I was not disappointed. An unassuming building with a large sign outside with its name on it. Friendly staff that helped me when I walked in. Menu boards across the wall that you could easily read. Tonight I have the three piece dark meat with mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese and a sweet tea. I was the only one eating inside the location but a lot of people were getting their food to go. The meal was prepared and delivered in a timely manner. The first bite into the chicken leg told me all I needed to know about this place. Why had I not come here earlier. Working my way through the meat selections of two legs and a thigh it definitely had a freshness and crispness that was just like home cooking. Completely different than the chain restaurants that you pick up your chicken at. One of the workers came by and asked me how my meal was. I asked him to sit down so I could ask a couple of questions. Turns out it was the owner Mr Chatman himself. As I talked to him about the reviews that I do for restaurants, golf courses and hotels across the Southwest I shared with him how many millions of views my photos have and the reviews that I've done. We sat there for the next hour talking about life, religion, marriage, business and a whole lot more. One thing he would not share with me was what was the secret ingredient for the gravy that went over the mashed potatoes. It had a unique taste that I thought I knew what it was but I couldn't put my finger on it. He just smiled said it was a secret. Mr Chatman has got to be one of the friendliest men I've ever met. We laughed a lot at the stories he told. I shared some of my experiences locally and in the military. It was just a fantastic experience to sit there in this small building with such great tasting food. I told him that I would definitely be back. We had talked about the stigma that WW White has. But I also explained that there was a lot of great food locations on that road and hopefully people would not see the bad side of the road but come and explore the good side especially the restaurants. If you get a chance to try it the warning that he gave me was that during the day Tuesday through Saturday it's a line out the door and totally packed. But in the evening it appears to drop off and you can come in and grab your food to go or sit down at a table. Don't be put off by the location come inside for the food. You won't be...
Read moreI’ll write about the chicken another day needless to say it’s great!! Today I’d like to talk about the service. My daughter and I went to Chapmans this past weekend and experienced a dissatisfied customer. We were impressed with the way Mr. Chapman handled the situation. We placed our order had a seat and while waiting we decided to add lemon pepper wings to our order,. My daughter approached the counter, however there were two gentlemen placing an order but still deciding on what they wanted. The cashier asked my daughter if she needed something else to which she said no, because she wanted to allow the other gentleman to complete their order. The cashier finished up with them and then Mr. Chapman approached the register and helped my daughter. After my daughter ordered a gentleman, who came in after the previous two customers, approached Mr. Chapman and asked why he allowed my daughter to cut him in line. Mr. Chapman apologized and said he was not aware the gentleman was in line and proceeded to ask for his order. The gentleman refused and demanded an explanation as to why my Mr. Chapman apologized again and explained he did not see him, the gentleman refused to except the apology became irate and walked out. I approached the counter to explain to Mr. Chapman that my daughter had been in line but did not want to get in front of the two gentleman before her who were still deciding so she waited which was unbeknownst to the gentleman who became irate. Mr. Chatman assured us everything would be OK. When our order was ready Mr. Chapman brought it out and thanked me for explaining to him how it all happened. I would just like to applaud Mr. Chapman for his professionalism and the integrity he showed when dealing with an irate customer. Keep up the good work and most importantly the...
Read moreWhile this restaurant is quite a ways from our home in the 281/TPC area, it will be one that we will definitely be coming back!
We were greeted warmly and when the gentleman working the register heard this was our first time there, he offered me a sample of their fried pork riblets. There are probably well over a dozen establishments that offer fried chicken but NONE of them have the riblets that Eddie has so masterfully transformed into such a succulent creation! (I only had one but it made that much of an impact!) As a matter of fact, I've never had riblets even remotely like his!
I had the three piece with green beans and okra. I'm from Arkansas originally and must say that I've never had a finer tasting side as his okra. The green beans were incredible...head rolling back with eyes watering from the wonderful flavor. Incredible!
Eddie came out to chat with us a couple of times and I must say he is a wonderful guy. Friendly, warm, and thoughtful. We enjoyed talking to him so much we asked him to have a seat and visit with us. You can see he has a passion for what he does as well as for life. He's very thoughtful for his employees and truly made our experience even so much more the better!
We will definitely be visiting this...and soon as there other items I'm very much looking forward to trying - cornmeal fried fish (BTW he did share that they use healthy, often replaced oil), lemon pepper fried chicken, wings and more!
While I only had one riblet, it made such an impact on me I ordered six to go - 2 regular, 2 lemon pepper, and 2 hot and spicy. I can't wait to tear into them and return for more!
It's a bit off the beaten path for us but I have strong feeling we'll make excuses to visit Mr. Eddie and his Chatman crew...
