Chili's Grill & Bar — Restaurant in San Antonio

My visit to this establishment was incredibly disappointing, to say the least. We arrived last Sunday, 3/3/24, around 6:00 pm. Unfortunately, the greeter wasn't very welcoming. Without saying hello or asking how we were, she immediately inquired about the size of our party. Our group consisted of 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and 1 child. I requested 4 regular menus and 1 child menu, which were provided, and we were then seated at a table that was slightly dirty and sticky.

After being seated, we waited for over 10 minutes for our server to acknowledge us. Eventually, a young lady named Nicole approached our table, glanced around, and remarked, "I guess I'll take you guys," before walking away. Another 5 minutes passed before Nicole returned and introduced herself as our server. She explained that there were only two staff members working that day and she initially wasn't sure whose table we were. By this time, we had already decided what we wanted to order. However, Nicole insisted on taking only our drink orders first and then returning.

The 2 adults and 2 teens ordered from the "3 for me" menu, while the 1 child ordered from the kids' meal menu. Despite only requesting two adjustments to our order being, sandwiches with extra mayo, Nicole had trouble getting our order correct, which delayed our food even further. When our food finally arrived, the two sandwiches we requested with extra mayo were missing the additional condiments. Additionally, one of the top buns of a sandwich fell on the ground as it was brought to our table. Although we requested a replacement bun, it took the entire duration of our meal for it to arrive. By then, we had all finished eating.

Throughout our meal, no one came by to check on us or inquire about our satisfaction. I also visited the restroom during our time at this location and found them to be very dirty, with water on the floor of every stall, no toilet paper, and debris and hair on the floor and in the sinks.

After finishing our meal, when presented with the bill, I spoke with the manager, Josh, about my experience and the condition of the restrooms. I highlighted all the concerns mentioned above and expressed my disappointment, stating that I would not be returning. However, Josh simply responded with an "Okay" and processed my payment without offering an apology or attempting to address my concerns.

Overall, I did not enjoy my meal or experience at this location. As a loyal customer, I am saddened by the lack of customer service, even after bringing my concerns to the manager's attention. It is disheartening to receive such treatment from a restaurant chain that I typically enjoy...

So the waitress set the tone right away saying she was thrown in at this location, didn't know where anything was or how things worked. She then continued with she's the only one on this side and service is slow. We should have taken the hint and just left but have never had a issue before at this location. We started off ordering one of the Marg of the month Secret Stashe that I have enjoyed several times at another location. Then Also a side salad and water. It took over 20 mins to get just the side salad with no utensils and she left without giving us a chance to ask for the drinks or anything else just saying she would get the rest of our order after other tables. She also told 2 other tables she would just be getting drinks and appetizers only for them then return to get the orders. Another 15 mins later my drink shows up but it's just a regular strawberry margarita that's watered down from sitting. We managed to snag a guy that took it back to be remade. He also brought water. We had to grab plastic utensils for the side salad. When our main course finally comes out it was the Cilantro Lime Carne Asada with rice and beans. We had requested Corn but we got flour tortillas, beans/ rice were cold and meat was tough. Also ordered was a chicken Caesar salad with a full portion of chicken. I received a few strips of what looks like chicken Fajitas meat, browning iceberg lettuce and no dressing. I asked the waitress for dressing and where my drink was... she left and a guy came back with my drink it was still not correct in a plain glass but I did get the dressing. The salad was very poor quality and definitely not something I would pay for again. The two girls running around and one guy were obviously very short staffed and struggling with service so we just paid the bill and left. It was already almost after 900 by the time we got out of there and didn't want to wait another 20 to 30 mins to speak to a manager. We definitely will not go back to this location. March 2023 Update: Re-visited about a year later on a weekend. They were not busy. Although friendly, our youthful male waiter's restaurant attire and his overall appearance was pretty casual. Some prior customer tables still needed to be 'busted.' Prices were up and some of our favorite items were no longer on the menu, ie., the turkey club. The grill chicken salad was now $13.19 and the mushroom swiss burger was $11.79. We ordered both and ask for a 'second' plate and with the salad dressing on the side. Another waiter brought our order with the dressing mixed in and with no extra plate.The salad had ample chicken and the burger was tasty tho. The total bill with no beverages was $27 and change. Overall experience was ok, but nothing special to bring you back.

Visited this restaurant early afternoon midweek. The place is larger inside than it appears from the outside. They were fairly busy. The manager was also helping to clean tables and etc. He said they were somewhat shorthanded, although the waitress that we had (Chelsea) was great. The the grilled chicken salad was tasty and was priced at $10.50. Also had the turkey club sandwich with french fries for $12.50. The quantity and quality of the food was ample and tasty.
