Taco Cabana: A Disheartening Decline in Culinary and Facility Standards
As a once-avid patron of Taco Cabana, I have observed a distressing decline in the quality of their offerings and facilities. The establishment, previously a bastion of flavorful and satisfying fare, has recently faltered in delivering the culinary delight it was once known for.
Culinary Execution: In my recent visits, the beans have been notably runny, lacking the robust texture that characterized them before. The Big Red, once a refreshing accompaniment, has consistently been flat, a mere shadow of its former effervescence. The tacos, which were previously packed full and brimming with flavor, now seem lackluster and uninspired. Additionally, the salsa bar often appears neglected, with offerings that seem to be leftovers from the previous day rather than the fresh, vibrant condiments expected.
Service and Speed: Despite the downturn in food quality, the service remains impeccable. The staff, ever courteous and efficient, ensure a swift and pleasant dining experience. Their dedication to excellent service warrants commendation.
Facilities: The women's restroom requires urgent attention. Maintaining cleanliness and functionality is crucial for an establishment of this nature, and current conditions fall short of acceptable standards.
Atmosphere and Overall Experience: The overall dining experience has been marred by the noticeable decline in food quality and the lack of attention to facility maintenance. It is a shadow of the vibrant and satisfying culinary experience that once defined Taco Cabana. I urge the management to reinstate the previous morning crew, whose craftsmanship in the kitchen was unmatched and brought joy to many patrons.
In conclusion, while the service at Taco Cabana remains stellar, the recent decline in food quality and facility upkeep is disheartening. It is my hope that this feedback prompts a return to the high standards that once made this establishment a cherished dining...
Read moreI am glad to see there are others who are having the same problem that I have been having with this location! It has been just HORRIBLE. The orders are always wrong! Don't even think about asking for refried beans (even though it says choice of beans) because you will get borracho every time! I have NEVER gone in there and gotten everything right on my order, and I go at least once, if not twice a week. I sent an email to corporate a couple weeks ago after I paid a $5 delivery fee, then gave a tip of $6, only to find out my entire order was wrong, with half the items I paid for missing! So I still had to drive over there to get my order correct. Corporate said they were sorry and that there would be "retraining", so I went back this week to see how it was. I verified at the register that the chicken fajita taco salad came with guacamole, but guess what, it did not have guacamole on it when I received it. Then I looked at my chicken fajita plate. I mentioned that the menu states the plate comes with shredded lettuce and guacamole (you can see it in the picture I attached). The girl told me that had been discontinued and it no longer comes with that??? Seriously? And you still have it posted? I told her that if I had known that I would have ordered guacamole when I was in line, but that they should honor it since it is right there on the menu. She literally turned her back, walked away and ignored me. I got back in line, had to wait behind 3 other customers, just so I could order and pay for the guacamole that was supposed to be on my plate. I left and emailed corporate again right away. Now they are not responding back. You would think they would see these reviews and complaints and DO SOMETHING...
Read moreThis location was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. I am beyond disgusted by how poorly the entire situation was handled.
When I paid for my order, the cashier, Cecilia, was about to hand me 71 cents in nickels and a penny. I politely asked if I could instead give her 29 cents so I could receive a full dollar back. While the register was still open, she refused—claiming “the system wouldn’t allow it.” I accepted that explanation and calmly asked for a refund so I could take my business elsewhere.
That’s when everything went downhill. Instead of returning the $10 bill I paid with, they handed me $9 in bills and the remaining dollar entirely in nickels and pennies. I asked the manager to verify that it truly totaled a dollar—and, of course, it didn’t. It came out to 95 cents.
Then, unbelievably, Cecilia suggested they call the police—over a refund discrepancy of five cents. I was completely stunned. After waiting over 15 minutes while they fumbled between two registers, I refused to leave short of my full refund.
Let me be very clear: I never raised my voice, never used foul language, and asked for the refund before the food was even brought to the register. This entire scene unfolded in front of my young son—all because I calmly requested the money I was owed.
To think that the San Antonio Police Department was nearly called over a refund request is beyond appalling. This experience was not only unprofessional, but deeply humiliating and infuriating. I will never return to this location again. I'm definitely filing a...
