It takes a lot for me to actually write a review. You have to be either really good or really bad for me to care enough to do it. I don't enjoy leaving bad reviews, but tonight's incident was motivation enough for me to speak up.
Let me preface by saying I frequently buy food from this location (Guilbeau & Old Tezel). Unlike some other reviewers, I have always enjoyed the food. That's why I have mixed feelings leaving this review.
This is a family owned and operated franchise. I respect that. I'm sure they're hard workers just doing the best they can, but over time I have noticed their customer service is very poor. Because I've worked both retail and food service before I know how difficult serving the public can be. I always try to be extra kind and polite to anyone I encounter. At this particular location I have gone out of my way to compliment them on their food, always say please & thank you, etc.
Most of the time there is the same older lady taking drive-thru orders and cashiering. She has a very heavy east asian accent, but I am familiar enough with hindi/bangledeshi that it doesn't usually pose a poblem for me. She is not very friendly however. Even when you thank her she doesn't seem to care or acknowledge it. Tonight she seemed like she was in bad mood and I got the brunt of it.
I noticed before I ordered she was having a difficult time communicating with the car ahead of me. You could tell she was frustrated because the customer couldn't understand her. She got snippy with them. Then she got to me. I ordered, no problem. Got to the window and she read the order back to me but it didn't sound exactly right. Maybe it was and it was just a miscommunication. But when I asked her again she was very rude. In her own language she started to mutter loudly in what was clearly a display of disdain and contempt. I didn't need a translator to know she was insulting me to my face. I get she was frustrated from the car before but she took it out on me. That's not okay. Nor was it professional.
I was shocked at first. But then I decided she needed to know she was being rude and told her as much. I didn't even want the food anymore. I even let them keep the money. I just wanted out of there. It wasn't about the food or the expense. It was the principle. You can't mistreat customers and expect them to just take it. Eating out is not as affordable anymore. And there are lots of other options availble. All I expect is for people to be respectful. Especially if I'm trying to spend money at your business.
Looking at MANY similar reviews here I realize that my experience was not an anomaly. It's a pattern. I will never purchase from this Church's location again. And I will tell everyone I can to avoid it. I may just be one customer, but I hope everybody who reads this will heed my warning. So you don't ever have to experience the same...
Read moreI have always enjoyed Churches chicken. This particular store will not be on my list to frequent. I was told no I couldn’t replace a thigh for a leg - which I always do at other stores. I understand if there is a line but I was 1 of 2 cars and there was plenty of chicken up on the racks. Ok, no big deal- then I asked for more ketchup. I had ordered a small fry and 2 packets would have been okay but I was charged for large fries which is what I got and I wanted some more ketchup. Now mind you, this is the 2nd employee, the first one who scolded me for asking about the leg exchange is no longer making eye contact with me. Not that she was busy or anything. So this employee points at the bag. I said “yes ma’am this is 2 packets may I have a couple more?” She commence to close the window while keeping eye contact with me- mumbles to 1st employee… grabs 2 packets of ketchup, opens window and hands them to me. I thanked her and drove off feeling ashamed for asking so much of those 2 employees. I wondered what felt so wrong about my visit. Well, I recalled pulling up to the “walk-up window” first and reading these handwritten notes on poster boards saying “Drive thur only”. Also thought it was strange that all the windows were blocking view with same said poster boards. The only time I was able to see inside was from the little drive-thru window. My realization is this: it was not a friendly experience. The ONLY reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the chicken and the fries were good. Up to...
Read moreTOOK OUR MONEY. We went here and ordered a three piece chicken, tender meal with a side of corn and Coke. I got three chicken two thighs, a leg of french fries, and a side of mashed potatoes. We were prepared for a wait since usually there is one but they asked us to pull around the corner for a 5 minute wait for fresh chicken. So no worries, we pulled around the corner. There was a huge thunderstorm rolling through and we had our dogs in the car so we didn’t mind sitting for a minute. Five minutes turned into 10 minutes when I went up to the window to ask where our order was, they gave me a Coke and corn I was standing in the rain getting soaking wet so we pulled around into the driveway and when we pulled up to the window, they didn’t respond to us at all they didn’t say anything through the speaker box. There were three cars ahead of us so we weren’t able to face them on face-to-face unless we went out in the pouring rain again Never coming...
