Donut Palace — Restaurant in San Antonio

Good donuts when fresh. But highly upset. Went and ordered five glazed, 12 holes, and a cinnamon cake donut. The same one I ordered the day before. She gave me an old fashioned cake donut. When I told her she told me that it was the same as the cake donut just baked in a different pan. Instead of just giving me the donut I asked for. They are not the same actually. A cake donut is like cake soft. No icing. Smooth. The old fashioned are a little crispier and crunchy and I don't like that. Especially when stale they are gross. They also tend to taste greasiest because of the crunchy areas if not cooked right. So for telling me a bold faced lie and not giving me the correct donut they get one star and I will probably not go back to this location although it's close to me. I had heard from the San Antonio Restaurant Facebook Page about the birthday donuts from Donut Palace. I have a friend graduating with her master's in a few weeks and I wanted to get her a Happy Grad Day message.

I called yesterday and spoke to V about the order and set for pick up time at 9am today. Today, I headed over early and realized quickly that they made these donuts fresh to order so they weren't ready yet. It takes 30 to 40 minutes to make. I had a sausage and cheese kolache and iced coffee with half and half while I waited. The iced coffee tasted like Vietnamese coffee...yum! I also ordered a ham and cheese kolache for Dad which he enjoyed for lunch.

The custom donuts turned out great and my friend said they tasted good.

Zero stars if I could leave that. Absolutely horrible and will never be back. I special ordered Happy Birthday donuts days in advance. When I arrived to pick them up, I was informed they no longer had them, as they’d accidentally given them away to someone else. The lady in there asked the gentleman if they could be remade, and his response to her was, “Don’t look at me, I’m not the one that gave them away!” They continued talking and then she asked me if I could come back in 3-4 hours to pick them up, and assured me they’d have them ready then. I asked what time exactly, and the gentleman was very rude and said, “They take hours! I get here at 2 a.m. because it’s not quick.” I told them never mind and left…in tears.
