Let me open up with saying this FYI I did not give five stars because I ordered a green tea to go and they are just not like geared for that. That tea was terrible. I get it, most people probably don't ask for a green tea to go. Now moving on.
Ate here with colleagues from work at lunch and I've got to say that everybody reviewing this place for the most part is on point. I love Asian food. I eat at Khans Mongolian Grill once a week. I like General Tso and teriyaki and sweet and sour and even though it's nothing compared to the real thing I even get Beijing beef from Panda from time to time.
My wife makes exceptional steamed rice. All in all, I am fairly critical about the Asian food. Ichiban was wonderful. Every person at the table was complimenting their meal and that ranged from Steak and broccoli to Hibachi chicken to my General Tso chicken.
It was a lightly breaded chicken with a sticky, savory sauce. I appreciated the light nature of the breading as many places I have eaten will drown the chicken pieces in a thick cake of breading.
The rice was perfect.
The atmosphere is simple.
The gentleman who took our order might be the owner for all I know but he was very kind and quick.
It was affordable and he had bottled water which is important to me because sometimes these places only give you tap water and Lord knows I don't want to be drinking rhinoceros bath water.
If he gets the tea right, it's five stars. In all honesty I would go back and try like five different plates over time. You get what you see here. I highly doubt you will be...
Read moreLet me start off by saying The food is amazing! However I been to this place 4 times , and every single time I go , they demand a tip from me , every single time and it NEVER FAILS , which makes me feel uncomfortable. I get it I’m a server ,and I been serving for 9 yrs . but u can’t demand a tip from anyone , especially if it’s not an added gratuity . I went yesterday , and I didn’t have my debit card on me so i had to go up to the register to use Apple Pay , so I pay and I sign my name , and I put 0$ as the tip because I was going to leave cash . And when she sees it she says , where’s the tip at ? And it threw me off when she said that , ! So I look at her and said I’m leaving u cash on the table . And I walk off . So I sit back down and me and my friend are talking(not leaving just yet ) and the lady comes up to the table about 2 minutes later and look around the table , and then she looks at me and says “I DONT SEE THE TIP” & I was so puzzled I didn’t even say anything , she walks off and about 5 minutes later we get up to leave and she follows us out of the door with the reciept , handing it to me but mumbling underneath her breath . I sit back and watch & see how they interact with everyone else every single time I do , & i always get treated differently . I’m a African American female . So is it because of my skin color ? . I will be getting in contact with someone...

The salad was refreshing. I ate mine without the homemade ranch per my request because I do not like ranch. Even without the ranch the salad had a light, tangy coating. My husband did like the ranch.
The Tonkotsu Ramen was divine. Each bite the flavor built layers of complexity. I loved the soft boiled egg and pork belly. My husband and daughter liked the Ichiban chicken fried rice, especially with the sauce on the chicken. Next time he will ask for more sauce because he said it elevated the dish and he wanted to sprinkle some on the rice.
I got sticky rice "To go" for dessert. It was not what I expected. Literally sticky rice supposedly cooked with coconut milk, but I could not tell a flavor difference compared to normal rice. I will not get it again. Next time I will have mochi.
The prices seemed expensive at first, but the food was so yummy that it was worth it. I can't wait to go back. I will tell all my friends and family...
