UPDATE: Another great lunch at Jim's on 410. Always great to come into town and have lunch before hitting the town. They have freshened the interior and made it light and bright and remains an institution in San Antonio. Thanks again to Stephanie for another warm and friendly lunch.
Try the Chicken Salad Plate. Stephanie will prepare a masterpiece for you!
OK, so Jim's is an institution in San Antonio. Everyone knows it and can count on having something for everyone here.
Driving in from Houston, we stopped in mid afternoon to this location prior to arriving at the hotel for a couple of days of leisure in beautiful San Antonio.
Not too busy, we were greeted with friendly staff welcoming us and inviting us to sit anywhere we chose. We were approached by Stephanie after just a few moments. She was warm and friendly and treated us like family. Brought our drinks quickly, was knowledgeable of the menu and as she brought the table in front of ours her order, she quickly let out table know what it was she had ordered. I had already been eyeing that particular selection so at that point I am sold.
What she brought to the table was a literal work of art. If you haven't considered ordering the Chicken Salad Plate, reconsider. It is absolutely perfect. IT was exactly what I wanted and her presentation was phenomenal. So phenomenal in fact that we ordered it to go a couple of days later as we were headed out of town.
A large serving of their gorgeous chicken salad with celery and pineapples, cold cottage cheese, peach half, pineapple ring, grapes, cantaloupe, strawberries and bananas. Just perfect I tell ya.
Stephanie once again exceeded all expectations with her attention to detail, careful preparation and a genuine love for her job. She is truly an asset to Jim's and they are fortunate to have her. She is the kind of employee that companies pray for.
I certainly hope the manager at this location takes note of her dedication of doing a great job. We did steakhouses and seafood restaurants for our other dining options but the waitstaff couldn't match Stephanie's warmth or gumption to do a great job. I literally can't wait for my next trip to San Antonio so I can stop in and have her prepare this salad plate for me again. Thank you Jim's and...
Read moreHad Rebecka the waitress and I got the worst service. I came with my wife and all we ordered was burgers. It took us 10 min to actually get service, once we got someone's attention she started giving attitude to the other waitress about not even wanting us like we couldn't even hear. She came to the table without greeting us and while she was taking our order she looked like she didn't even want to be here..if anything she was just giving us attitude the entire time. She looked irritated when we tried getting soups as appetizers. We're the ones paying for everything aren't we?? That's your job to serve us! It took her 6 whole min to give us our burgers that have been in the window the entire time. She didn't even apologize about the situation, didn't even offer condiments or anything either. we tried to get her attention that the fries were cold but she somehow disappeared. Of coarse she never came back to the table for almost 20 minutes till we leave. She came up to the counter as soon as some other waitress helps us and hands us the ticket and walks off..Didn't even check on us nor did she fix our order. DIDNT even tell us to have a good day. If anything it was more of a "screw you now give me my tip" .I've never in my life received this bad of service. As soon as me and My wife are leaving, we leave from the back and see her smoking on her phone. If you don't want to help the customers why are you working here. Just pathetic. On top of that your smoking at work, what restaurant allows this when your on the clock?? Never in my life will I go back to this restaurant. If you ever do go here, don't let Rebecka be your waitress. Worst waitress ever and I really consider her finding another job. Worst...
Read moreI go to Jim's every so often when I have an office day. On occasion, co-workers will join me if they are available. Parking can be tight but, I usually do not have a problem finding a spot. The parking lot needs some TLC though. The interior of the restaurant was recently updated with a new ceiling and light fixtures. It's refreshing considering how worn everything looked almost a year ago.
The food is typical for dinner food. I haven't had a problem with food quality. My go-to orders are the Club Salad or the Half Soup/Half Sandwich combos. The staff always get my order right. The food is always hot fresh. If I want to deviate from the normal, I get the Sampler Basket with Fried Mushrooms, Mozzarella sticks, and Chicken Tenders.
Most of the waitresses and staff are kind and sweet. They serve with great attitudes and a genuine smile on their face. I rarely have a less than great interaction with the staff. There may be one person who is having a bad day, but they certainly don't let it weigh visibly on them.
Management is supportive of their staff and is always willing to work with dissatisfied customers. There was an incident a few months ago when I ordered a to-go slice of Boston Cream Pie but I received Chocolate Creme Pie. I did not realize it until I got to my destination. I did not fuss about it because I understood the waitstaff was busy. That experience came up in today's check-out conversation with Ms. Irene (she bakes the pies, cakes, and cookies). I explained how I always enjoy a slice of Boston Cream every so often but was disappointed with my last experience. The Manager happened to be there and offered his apologizes and informed me he was willing to...
