Jimador #2 Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in San Antonio

OMG the food here is so good! I know they were having some problems a few months ago (maybe more than a year ago by now? 🤔🤷), but as the sign out front says - they're under new management now, and the difference is definitely noticable! I've been here probably a dozen or so times in the last 6 months, and every time my food has been made correctly the way I ordered it, delivered to me in a timely manner, and hot, fresh, & delicious! Whether I went through the drive thru or ate in the dining room and whether I went during the dinner rush or showed up 15 minutes before closing (sorry for that btw! Not my call 😬). And the employees are always very friendly and nice and attentive. Definitely recommend giving this place a shot if you're in the area, especially if you've been in the past and weren't exactly thrilled with your experience. I guarantee you'll have a different opinion of this place if you do. With all the Mexican restaurant options in this city (I want to say there's at least a dozen on this street alone) it's easy for Mexican restaurants to just kind of "exist" while not really standing out. This place definitely deserves to stand out. And it's really saying something when I pass up several other Mexican food options on my way here every time.

The food is really good. They do a good job cooking the meat, rice, and refried beans. The restaurant looks clean and the atmosphere is nice. It's not the best Mexican food I ever had, but it comes really close. I'm not really a big fan of really thick flour tortillas. I like them thinner. But it's okay when you're really hungry. I would go back for the food. It was worth it.

The number one thing I didn't like is the service there. The customer service sucked. The young latina cashier in tight blue jeans rushed me at the drive-thru. I actually wanted to order more than few tacos. A lot more food. I wanted to spend at least $40 dollars and not just $6. But she seemed to be in rush to go home being the weekend or hates her job. I don't know what her problem is but has some anger issues. She was very unfriendly with an attitude. She didn't smile at all. And she looked like she was frustrated or annoyed with me because asked her for a 2nd taco. After the way she treated me in the drive-thru I didn't want to order anymore from her. I'll try going there in the morning or some other day when she's not working.

We have been going here for a year and never had any issues until Friday 3/21/2025 as we were price gauged at $18.23 for two potato & egg tacos, a can soda, and a coffee. The coffee was 2.29, can soda was 1.99 and the taco was 2.49 on the minus. The total should had been right around $11 with tax, but not $18.23. They said the tacos were $3.99 each because of the egg shortage. If the prices are higher that needs to be listed on the minus &/or posted on signs inside the restaurant.
