The girl at the counter was clean, appropriately dressed & polite. We asked about the new "popper burger" & what was on it, & she was unable to tell us the ingredients. We started to order something else. My husband brought to our attention that a fly was crawling all over someone's sandwich, & we both turned & saw the fly crawling in and out of the sandwich. She appeared scared, & whispered that was the kitchen's job, & she only dealt with taking orders. They served the sandwich to a customer anyway.
My husband ordered the Angus burger on jalapeno sourdough bread, with pepper jack cheese & fries. I ordered the small fish basket with tots. We both got our beverages, he a Sprite, & I a Diet Coke. The Sprite was fine, the Diet Coke was almost all carbonation & very little Coke syrup. We took silverware out of a plastic bin. Knife handles were sticky & silverware was wet and dirty looking. However, in fairness, I believe the silverware is just cheap & starts to look that way over time. The knives have cheap wooden handles & they get that way from being placed in a dish washer. However, this, & the wet silverware, give the impression the silverware is dirty.
We waited 20 minutes for my husband's food, during which we observed the six people in the kitchen laughing & joking and not doing much else. One of the men in the kitchen not wearing a hair net or hat. All other staff had hats on, & females had hair appropriately pulled up. Meals were coming out, but very slow for having six people working in the kitchen.
One of the tables near us was dirty, where it was obvious a large party had been. A young man came & took all of the plates & trash from the table, but never wiped it down with a cloth/cleaner. Later he separated said tables in the original configuration, but still did not clean the table with any sort of cloth/cleaner. Our own table had beverage rings on it, showing that it too had not been wiped down, & some of the tables around us had particles of food on them.
Our food was brought to us, rather than our name being called. When the lady brought my husband's food, she explained that all of my food was overcooked & she told them to remake it. However, she wanted to bring my husband's food so it wouldn't get cold. My husband's $7.99 Angus meat patty had been cut into & was semi warm. The pepper jack cheese, which cost $.49 extra, was very small. The jalapeno sourdough bun, which cost $.99 extra, was cooked & crispy on the inside, and cold, wet, & soggy on the outside. It was inedible. The fries were crispy and warm, but they had an aftertaste that is usually caused by old cooking oil.
My fish & tots came five minutes after my husband's food. Lady was very polite & told us to let her know if we needed anything else. My food was very hot. Fish/tots were cooked perfectly, but tot's also had an aftertaste of old oil & you could feel the oil coating your mouth after eating them, even though, they, & the fish, were not greasy. My husband ate the meat patty out of this burger & nothing else. I ate one piece of fish, a few tots. I left my drink, with one sip out of it, as there was no other diet drink options.
When we left, I left my $1500 Samsung Note sitting on the table. The young man that had been bussing tables was already out in the parking lot bringing it to me, as I was still searching for it in my purse.
When this location opened, I wrote a very positive review about it. Now, I will be forced to post this one. The return of the phone & the politeness of the staff is all very positive. However, we will not return. For 3 or 4 more dollars, we could have had a much nicer, edible meal, in a much cleaner environment. We could have complained, but we felt that upon witnessing them serving a sandwich to someone after a fly had crawled all round inside it, it was our stupidity for even continuing to place the order. 1 star for bringing me my phone & 1 star for recooking my burnt food they were going...
Read moreGood, honest homestyle food that hits the spot no matter what. The misses loves their meatless burger and I have thoroughly enjoyed everything from their grilled chicken with mushrooms which is awesome, as well as the chicken fried steak and chicken, both of which are also great. Last takeout visit I tried their fried fish. The fish was tender and flaky while the portion size was no slouch, that's for sure. I do wish it had come with the appropriate and requisite sauces like tartar and cocktail sauce but I had some at home, luckily. The decor of the restaurant is classic rustic but a very polished, well put together and organized design. The entry doors are slightly peculiar upon your first visit, but once you are there after the first time it makes sense. I do truly love the old style of the kitchen; its wide open right behind the counter you order and pick up from and you see everything: the griddle, the fryers, the fridges full of fresh produce and meat, the prep station feet away from your pickup destination. I'm a huge, huge fan of that aspect of this restaurant, especially without a microwave in sight. The only confusion is when I had a craving for the food but lacking the time to eat in store. I walked in and went up to the sign saying "internet order pick up here" or something to that degree. Well, after some confusion, asking to go closer the cashier near the chips, I realized I should've gotten in the traditional bordered off queue towards the cashier and felt awkward like I was cutting the line when a customer who walked in at the same time as me picked up a to-go order right after I technically cut infront of him in line. I'd recommend removing that sign is my only opinion. Besides that, keep the orders accurate as you have and you have a great place to get some fresh grub...
Read moreSo, I was initially going to Whataburger and saw that there was a Longhorn Cafe in the same parking lot. After having had visited several other locations decided that I’d rather visit Longhorn over Whataburger. We’ll, to my dismay this location provided me with my very worst experience thus far from a Longhorn Cafe. After finding out that this location does not support military veterans I still decided I’d spend my money here. Ordered the cheeseburger combo to go, what a mistake. After 35 minutes my name had not been called, so I decided to go ask the cashier about my order. She found it sitting in the to go counter and stated that it had been ready for a while but that no one had called my name. The burger was soggy and without flavor at best room temp. I understand that the labor force is really struggling at the moment, but come on. This location seems to be the place where the 10% get assigned to. The customer service and grooming standards are best suited for a carnival food truck. The employees seemed to find the situation extremely hilarious that no one called my name, and what I assume was a Manager just stood there with a dumbfounded look on her face. I’m not giving up on the other locations that have good service and food, but will definitely rather visit Whataburger instead when looking for a burger...
