I've been to this restaurant before and I really have enjoyed the food. On Friday August 5th 2022 I took a friend of mine to go eat there. I ordered the four piece fried fish, which was great. She ordered the large fish soup with a side of sliced avocado, which came out to be half of an avocado just sliced and served on a small plate. When she got her order I was surprised to see the bowl of fish soup was small and was served with only three little chunks of fish. She was disappointed about that but more disappointed that the soup tasted like tomato soup and not fish 😕. What was worse was that when we went to pay they charged my friend $7 for the sliced avocado 😱 Mind you this was a small avocado I know that because I had just bought some at Arlan's the night before! She was served just half of an avocado slice that was it. We explained that to the gentleman that was the cashier and he said that the price was correct! Needless to say I was embarrassed for the way my friend was treated. I looked at the menu online and a side of guacamole was a whole lot less than $7. 🧐 This was a horrible experience and just because of that avocado my family and I will not be returning to any of La playa restaurants. As good as the food is here, we can purchase the same good food else where. Oh and just so you know my friend didn't take this out on her waitress she left...

Worst experience ever. Been coming to this restaurant for years. Ordered the same plate I always order for myself and my family, 27B - grilled fish with double rice. My girlfriend said "3 - 27B's and a large shrimp cocktail." I even pointed at the item in the menu and showed the waitress. Waitress came back with 3 plates of grilled fish and double rice. My girlfriend and I looked at each other puzzled and told the waitress that that was not what we had ordered. The waitress goes over and has a pow wow with the owner/manager and after a few min they grab a different lady to come and speak with us. She explains to us that it was too much food to throw away and that they are refusing to "remake" our order. I explained to this new lady what had happened, explaining that my girlfriend had said 27B and that I had even showed the waitress in the menu. The lady just replied that the only way we were going to be served was if we accepted the fried fish. I told her we were leaving. We paid for our drinks and left. Still very upset and disappointed with the service. Had been a faithful patron for...

Never in my life would I have thought of people being so insensitive. Went by today friday the 10th of april to order food ,got home to find out my order was wrong not all of it but one order . No big deal ,so I call so I can get the correct thing, of which they were courteous to say come over and we will make it right...awesome i so thought. Well i get there ,and they are still holding true to there word ,only to have the old man who's at cashier saying he didnt charge me for what i was picking up. I think to myself not my mistake ,i drove home and had to comeback. By the way the diffrence was about 80 cents. I didn't see any reason why i had to pay for their mistake ,well after a brief conversation, he turns to a lady worker and in a harsh voice of frustration says ,just give it to him as if I'm begging. Well I just asked for a refund. Of which he was stubborn about. I finally gave this place the benefit of a doubt and now. I will never give this place my business. In a time when the world is practically at its knees ,true colors of greed were shown. Btw this the poplar and...

OH NO! I hate To do this but I have to leave a horrible review. Just wanted to share our bad experience at La Playa...it was so bad we wanted to walk out without paying....no lie dine n dash...but since we're not low life's we decided to pay for the less than ordinary food and bad service. The waitress couldn't even speak English and avoided us most our meal because of the language barrier. I asked for a tea after my beer to have with my meal and it didn't get to me until I was already done with the plate. The floors n decor were dirty and I dared not use the restrooms. The waitress took forever to bring us the tab and the food was not the good. They didn't even have asada quesadillas on the menu I had to ask. I know it's a seafood restaurant but they're should still be some surf n turf entrees to choose from. Family of 4 two adults two small toddler cost us over $65 to eat there and my wife and I had one beer each. So not only is the service bad, but the food is expensive. Totally not worth coming here and I will never visit again...shame my first one review star...

Good seafood with a definite Mexican (Mariscos) flair. The decor, wall murals and food (along with wait staff talking in Spanish) reminded me of eating in a seaside town in Mexico. They have solid fare. Good food and pretty inexpensive for seafood. Off the beaten path on San Antonio's west side, but definitely worth a try when you're missing the seafood dives of Cabo or Cancun!

Seafood and more served hot and fresh. Unlike other restaurants the shrimp cocktail is served with fresh shrimp not frozen. It was great. I also ordered the fried shrimp plate which comes with fries. It seemed like the fries were also battered a little. It was different but in a good way. Sweet tea was also good. Service was great. We will be back.
