Los Balito's Taco Shop - TPC — Restaurant in San Antonio

Worst place to eat Mexican food. Store bought tortillas,the cooks don't know how to cook,food is extremely greasy and bad service! As soon as we walk in we got attitude. We were standing because there were no clean table and a waitress asked "are you eating here or taking to go?" I let her know we are eating here so she proceeded to tell us to sit down. Well I explain there is no clean tables. Waiter: you can sit down and we will come clean it. Note!: I have kids which are gonna be touching the table and left over from the last person that sat there. Disgusting!! So a different lady comes to take our order after she cleans the table and is very nice. Our food comes out and there was store bought tortillas, the eggs were egg whites which there was barely any egg in the tacos, the barbacoa was so greasy the whole plate was soaked in grease. So we get done with our food and I go to pay and the same snooty waitress from the beginning was up there at the register. I'm waiting to pay... She sees me and makes eye contact but never says give a moment or anything. Proceeds talking to another customer in English then when she finally talks to me its in Spanish(I'm Hispanic but don't speak Spanish). I let her know I am wanting to pay my ticket and she ask "do you have your ticket??" No because there wasn't one left on my table. Attitude again! Our waitress had it the whole time. So I start to pay and I ask her "do y'all have a manager or someone that I can speak to? " her response "no we don't have anyone". How do you run an establishment with no in charge? No wonder the food sucks and the waitress is rude. DO NOT EAT HERE!...

So as I read through the reviews of this location, the common issues I see are with the wait staff and I definitely agree. For example, today I called in an order and decided to add a drink to it when I got to the restaurant. There weren't a lot of people dining but as usual I was greeted the same EVERYTIME I go there: the wait staff never smiles, I get lots of attitude and I always have to correct whomever's working behind the counter they gave me the wrong drink.

While I was there, I walked to the counter to pick up my order and there were two waitresses behind the counter. One lady rang up my order which totaled to almost $14 then walks off. The second waitress then comes and asks what my order was and rang it up again but she rang it up for $13. I did let her know I had already paid.

I decided to just wait at the counter since it was just get-in-get-out for my order in which the second waitress asked me "very politely" if there was something else I wanted. I went ahead and asked how much an order of chips to go would cost and she just walked past me though I know she heard me.

The ONLY reason I come to this restaraunt is because the food is always delicious! It is indeed the best tex mex I've had in a while. But I supposed you can't have everything.

So far Los Balitos is as authentic as it gets: locally owned, tasty salsa, great Mexican food, convenience for being open 24/7 and a wait staff full of people who hate their jobs and aren't afraid to show it to...

It seems that the insulation of the new Las palapas right in front of this place is really done it in while I do appreciate the later hours. It's the food that has seem suffer i ordered 3 crispy tacos tonight which had more crispy tortilla the meat matter of fact the combined weight of the 3 tacos just the meat was 2oz (yes i pulled out the scale). It's not like i was at taco bell on taco Tuesday paying .99 a taco i was charged a solid $3.50 per taco despite the google listing saying they were $2.50. Even as i pointed out the error to the manager and cashier i was simply told "o well i know they changed the price six months ago sorry" . So me being the half full kinda guy that i am was like no worries. But when I got home and saw that these tacos were not even what I would consider appetizer portion I just couldn't and felt that I needed to speak out and let other people know that this is not the same Taco shop as it been once before and that you can clearly see the competition is driving the quality down I'm so sorry I wish it wasn't that way good luck to you but I will have to get my taco fix...
