How I found out about this place was through a customer. And I decided to go. Today. I’m. not going to brag about the food because it all has to do with the cooks. Good food you’ll return again. Well I ordered two tacos one was ham and egg and the egg was so watery they cook the eggs with water. I don’t like watery eggs. And the ham was cut in tiny squares the size of my pinky nail that’s tiny. And the I ordered a carne guisada it had 4 square the size of caramel squares. With gravy. I paid almost $4.69 and a drink. The amount severed does not match the price. These prices are California prices at lease they give you the amount it cost. In reality the only delicious thing that’s worth bragging for is their chips. They are over pricing the food and for the amount they serve they need to remember you are not paying for it serve me a decent price you’ll get a decent review. And one thing I did mention to them is their soups for diabetics that order caldos you should not add the rice diabetics can’t have rice it’s sugar and it will raise their sugar levels. I initially ordered chicken soup and it looked so thick and orange they put rice in it. I told her tell you manager to give us the choice to have rice or not. So that was taken back. Also the cashier was rude . My advice if you want good tasting Mexican food I highly recommend Tia’s Taco Hut they are popping up in many locations in San Antonio you will not get disappoint. On the food and prices . And one more place to get cheap tacos it’s Bill Miller carne guisada $2.89 you will not get that price anywhere so get more for your...
Read moreSo far my favorite item has been the chicken mole enchiladas. They have good flavor, the portion sizes on all the plates I've tried so far have been more than enough, and the pricing on everything is about average.
Most recently I downgraded the review to 3 stars. I visited and had numerous issues Ive never had in the past. Food came out cold, puffy taco was greasy and rubbery, no refills on drinks, no refills on chips. Not sure what is going on with both the food and service. I will update this review if things go back to normal.
A few visits ago I ordered the "Fried Ice Cream" for desert. I've had fried ice cream at Japanese restaurants before, but this was the first time here. I was expecting a scoop or 2 of ice cream, battered and fried, but what came out was a BIG surprise. A plate with a bowl made of fried batter sugar and cinnamon similar to a buneulo. Inside was 2 large scoops of ice cream, topped with a pile of whip cream, a cherry and a bunch of chocolate syrup. The plate was huge, easily enough to share with another person, and even more amazing was the price.. about $3.75.
The restaurant occasionally has live entertainment, but can sometimes be loud enough to make it hard to carry a conversation. Time from order to table is usually about 10 minutes or less. The restaurant does get busy at times, but even when full, service and order time is still good.
I'll keep returning, and trying more items because so far everything...
Read moreWe ordered huevos rancheros, small bowl of chicken tortilla soup and a chorizo, egg and cheese. His plate was ok and beans were subpar. The soup had a nice broth and flavor, loaded with shredded chicken and cheese, 2 small pieces of avocado which wasn't too bad. Large portion foe a small soup. The chorezo egg and cheese taco tortilla fell apart when I picked it up.It was so dried out. It tasted like fake eggs, and the chorizo had no flavor. When I requested it for it to be taken off my bill.Since I hadn't even eaten any but a taste, the manager came over and rudely told me that "no one else complained and she sold a lot of them" and walked away. Not sure what kind of customer service relations that is?Especially for a manager of a restaurant, but was completely appalled. Never offered to make it right or if there was anything else she could do instead, made me feel like it was my fault for returning a horrible taco that I wouldn't give to a dog. We do go in there from time to time and spend our hard earned money. Refuse to be treated like garbage, especially one on the consumer spending money on their product. The manager sat morning treated me like something she scraped off the bottom of her shoe. Will not be going there or recommending it to anyone. Certainly hope someone in a position of power would get rid of that rude manager because she did not pack your house like most Saturday's...
