I decided to come here after making a long drive from the Houston area. I read some reviews online that said the food here is fantastic, and that is absolutely true. I came here on a Sunday, so I was able to order their special jerk chicken. Iâd like to mention here that Iâve never had jerk chicken before, so I had no idea what to expect.
It was DELICIOUS! It was incredibly tender, sweet and spicy, and full of flavor. It came with coconut rice, cabbage, and some plantains. Let me tell you, I was having an experience while eating this chicken. I would definitely drive all the way back here, just for this chicken!
I also came here with my parents. Both of them ordered shrimp and catfish plates with various sides. The catfish was fresh, full of flavor, and it had cornmeal breading, which everyone knows is the proper way to bread catfish! The shrimp was plump and delicious; it didnât need any extra hot sauce or salt! The sweet potato casserole was sweet, had just the right amount of spices, and very similar to a fantastic sweet potato pie. The mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy; just like your grandmotherâs mac and cheese. Just know, the food is great, regardless of what you choose to eat.
The restaurant itself is pretty small, but very cozy. I felt comfortable as soon as I walked in the door. We got our order to go and we didnât wait long to get our order. The woman taking our order was very sweet and made sure that we were taken care of while we waited for our food. The chef was also super friendly!
If youâre ever in the area (or donât mind making a long trek), please visit this place! Youâll love the food, the atmosphere, and youâll never...

My husband and I have been regular customers here for a long time, always ordering the same thing without any issuesâuntil yesterday.
We placed our usual To-Go order of two plates. The cashier rang it up, and the total was $41 and some change. He then asked if I was paying with cash or card, and I said I preferred tap to pay. He responded that their tap feature wasnât working but that the manager allows customers to pay via Cash App.
The cashier went to the back, and the manager came up, typed something in, and suddenly my total was $51 and some change. I was confused but didnât question it at first since we come here so often. However, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a $9.41 tip had been added. When I asked the manager to remove it, the price dropped to $47âsuggesting that only part of the tip had been taken off.
At that point, we decided we wonât be returning.
To the manager: As a fellow small business owner, I understand if the added tip was meant to cover Cash App fees. However, you should be upfront about it instead of silently adding it and hoping customers donât notice. Had you simply explained the situation, I would have had no issue paying the extra amount.
Additionally, your employees shouldnât offer alternative payment methods due to a broken tap system without disclosing that they come with extra charges.
To other customers: Double-check your receipts and watch for...
Read moreMy husband and I went this past Sunday. I will say that the establishment is clean out front and customer service is A1. I am very proud to see this establishment withstand Covid-19 shut downs and more. I rated two stars because of the quality of the food, and before I start I must say this is one restaurant where your food WILL be hot in temperature and not lukewarm. Dine-in need to be warned it is HOT in there, not sure if the AC was on or not working, but JESUS keep ya life right, because it was HOT outside and inside matched!
Starting with the menu...most of us go to Carribean eateries in San Antonio for two items...curry chicken or ox tails, unfortunately neither were available on Sundays đł . I order the 4pc chicken which was fried perfectly but had no real flavor and the hairs had not been plucked off, so that spoke to the preparation of the food.I had mac and cheese for my side and it was very oily. Sauces are extra otherwise you get the generic package sauce. My advice is to bottle them for the dine-in customers and sale them for those that wish to taste the Carribean at home $$. Understanding inflation driving thr price is clear, however when it comes to quality food, that is a choice made by the establishment. I hope they understand my critique and choose to rise above the minimal competition don't let mediocre be the standard. I eill return to see if any improvements...
