We always love this location the best. Restaurant is clean and has a good amount of seating space. It does get packed but they move the crowd flow pretty quickly. The employees are friendly and check on you well enough. Parking is atrocious haha. Noise level depends on where you are seated. The main entrance area is not noisy but the other side is horrible noisy. Ordered: Mexican plate and a strawberry frozen margarita.. During lunch and dinner they start you off with some warm chips and salsa. I am addicted to their salsa that I usually use that over my food. Which says a lot because I'm usually a salsa Verde type of girl. Their cheese enchiladas in their special sauce are always so good. A bunch of flavor and the cheese is perfect. I don't like gummy style of cheese some places use. Thankfully here, it is nice and melted and melts in your mouth. Refried beans have a lot of flavor and taste delicious. Rice... even though it's pretty basic it still taste good. Puffy taco is nice and fluffy. It wasn't over greasy. The picadillo is perfect. Chalupa taste amazing. The tostada is think and crispy. If you don't eat it right away it will get soggy. The lettuce and tomatoes on top are always fresh. The food and plates are always piping hog. In the paste we have had their beef fajitas and those are always a hit as well. The meat is flavorful and tender. ------ I don't usually drink but this time around I decided to try their frozen strawberry margarita.. It is good. Mine was pretty strong on alcohol but then again it could have been cause I don't drink. Although, the table next to me ordered some too and mid way their meal they were pretty loud and tipsy to almost drunk. Will always return to this location.

The south and west sides of town seem to draw me to them by way of nostalgia and a soulful attraction that developed during the happy years I spent growing up there. There are still a few restaurants there that have remained relevant over the decades and, therefore, open which I now find worth a trip across town. Of course the food is good and the prices also usually very good. But it's a feeling you get that's a little like visiting your favorite grandmother's house. It can have a funky odor or maybe the appearance could use a face lift, but your memory serves up a heaping helping of good vibes and satisfied tummies that continues to auger your return. With a huge built in dose of nostalgia, Nicha's is just across the highway from the old Mission Drive-in and it's art deco facade consisting of a giant curvilinear wall that used to light up the night to attract outdoor movie goers. Nicha's needs no such advertising as it draws the customers in for good drinks and tex-mex regardless of time of day. With some potent mexican martinis in hand I was happy to reminesce a bit and contemplate my formative years in old San Antonio while we waited for plates of nachos, puffies and steaming enchiladas. Many restaurants have come and gone over the last 50 years or so, but rest assured that there are still long lived favorites for you to discover or continue to enjoy as we did today. Muy buen provecho, amigos y buena caza!

My family and I had a very bad experience here on 7/19,2025. We were there for dinner at approximately 8pm where the table of 3 adults and 2 children were seated next to us in the back dining area. Throughout our entire time thier two 2 children ran around the area screaming and inpeading in ours and other diner's space. The parents did nothing but laugh the whole time as to mock the experience. The servers and manager did nothing to control the situation until just when we were about to pay for our dinner. One sever finally confronted the parents and asked that they control the chilldren because they could get hurt or cause an accident with the servers carrying trays of food. The adults only laughed at the server as he walked away. Just before paying, I asked to speak to the manager and I told him about our experience and how it could have been handled better by upper management. He responded by making excuses and saying,"We've tried in the past to tell parents to control their children only for them to turn around and be rude and post a nasty review on Google about them being told how to raise their children." He continued by saying that because of that it's not worth confronting the parents. So, by being afraid to run a business with standards, they rather have normal customers suffer a bad experience in their establishment than to have the other party do the right thing with the children and not write a bad review on Google? Yeah, that makes sense. He then asked me, what can we do in a case like that? I said, ask them to leave. Where's the harm in that? So, because of this one experience, I would hope that the higher ups of this business would train their managers not to be afraid to keep them from losing business to unruly parents with uncontrollable children. Do...

Wow, what a change a couple of years can make!! Crispy taco plate, shells were soggy in the bottom and stale on top. Enchilada plate, sauce was horrible even worse than some low budget brand cans. Rice was really dry and flaky no flavor whatsoever. I myself ordered the fried Burrito covered in so much sauce was soggy by the time they brought it to the table. Of course they made me another one but by that time I had lost my appetite, got it to go. Service was less than, well lets just say not good from someone who says he has been there for three years. Wife asked for butter staff says gotta go hunt some down. Ask him about the silverware after he brings our food and turns to walk away says again gotta go hunt them down. Usually the silverware and chile are brought to the table before $50.00 worth of food does. Upon leaving a young lady asked how was everything. I asked her if she was part of the family she says no, pointing out a young man who was next to her. He asks if there was a problem. I stated to him everything I just posted on here. He looks at me with a blank stare kind of speechless, and then says sorry turns around and continues to gather more orders. Its a shame how younger generations of a family who worked so hard to build something that used to be worth going to, can just do it for the dollar signs. Told him he will be able to read my review of our visit. Upon leaving I told my wife that I mentioned to a fellow employee today about the great food I thought that we were going to have. I said I hope they don't decide to go before I have a chance to tell him Tuesday to scratch that place off the list. I wouldn't want to feel bad if they were to experience a dinner like the one we...
