I was visiting San Antonio for the day, we drove to San Antonio from Buda Tx early in the morning specifically to have breakfast. And visit some historic sites out ancestor was Alamo hero Gregorio Esparza, I was so excited to have some San Antonio food, I waited all month to go and have a type of home coming experience, with some good breakfast from la raza , I ordered the Carne Guisada plate , my sister ordered Migas. Our Iced Tea didn’t have ice. When our food came I didn’t get what I ordered I was served 2 eggs beans and potato’s with a spoon of brown gravy on the side, My sister got migas with rice and beans, she got what she ordered. Although They served us 2 old flour tortillas, real old and yellow, like they had been reheated more than once. I let the waitress know this is not what I ordered and if I could get fresh flour tortillas, she refused to send it back she said “this is how it comes.” Let me not forget to mention The salsa looked like diarrhea. The image on the menu showed Carne Guisada with Guacamole rice beans. The Migas picture showed Scrambled eggs Migas with beans, papas. The breakfast was advertised at for $6.99 on the menu, they charged $8.99 for the Migas Breakfast , The Carne Guisada plate was $10.99 on the menu, they charged $11.99 + $3.99 for the 2 eggs that I did not order and the tea was $2.96 each, upon paying the bill it was a total of $38 , I asked why was it so much I was told by the cashier they raised the price for breakfast because eggs are expensive, I told the lady I ordered Carne Guisada not eggs, I told her I didn’t get the food I had ordered. The waitress never took it back or fixed it the waitress She refused to correct any of it. The cashier refused to fix the price also, I asked for the manager and she also refused to correct it. Our breakfast should had been $7.99 + $10.99 + 2X $2.96 ! I shouldn’t have tipped but I left $2 for a total of $40 for the worst breakfast experience in the entire damn state. I do not recommend anyone go to this establishment. Very bad food, Very bad customer service, very bad over charging, Very bad tea, Very bad humans run this place. It was Not a good experience at all. I manage a national franchised restaurant, my sister manages our famous family restaurant at Lake Travis. We didn’t want to complain until the over charge and bad customer service. Do not go...
Read moreIf you are like me I appreciate the inclusion of pictures in accompaniment of a restaurant review. It's provudes a virtual 3-D representaion of the author's dining experience and a bit more complete portrayal of the particular culinary experience.
In like manner the menu of some old school Mexican restaurants offer full color pictures to go with an enumeration of what foods are offered on a plate which otherwise might be somewhat enigmatic without it. Such is Nuestro Mexico's.
We were going to order plain B&C nachos, but those pictured with guacamole atop the melted cheese looked so good we acquiesced. "Dog pile" nachos, as opposed to individually made, are not our preferred mise en place version as one always ends up with some naked chips. We only culled about 4 chips for their bare, naked lasciviousness, however.
Are you an American yellow cheese on your enchilada hater? Then these here cheddar tex-mex yahoos ought to flap your serape. Long, melty ribbons of cheese drooped from generously stuffed enchilada cheese wads making for a pizza type string along from plate to mouth. The sumptuous beef laden tube's were another, but improved story. I know which ones to order next time.
I think what they called "beef tips in gravy" is actually CG. Yes. That stands for carne guisada as well as "connoisseur grade" in my opinion. These tender meat morsels became a ready star attraction of the Texas plate or a savory scion of taco genre in a fresh made corn tortilla. Magnifico!
Rice and beans reside on that same plateau of craveworthy consumption as the food described above. With this I hope you get the picture and will avail yourselves of the pretty as a picture plates...
Read moreI believe I've discovered my new favorite low-key spot for Mexican tacos. The staff was incredibly helpful, even stepping in to assist a family of six when their baby accidentally dropped their coffee! I ordered a chorizo-egg taco and a potato-egg taco, both wrapped in flour tortillas. They were delicious, and the salsa had a nice thickness with just the right amount of spice—perfect for my taste. The tortillas were a bit thicker than I expected, but still enjoyable. I also tried their pancakes, which were very yummy and a delightful addition to the meal. I couldn’t resist having a Mexican Coke, and the coffee was quite good as well. The atmosphere was relaxed, yet the place was bustling with energy. Overall, a...
