Somewhere that claims to have all the flavor of italia, all the charm of a restaurant in the big apple, and right in my own backyard? I've got to try this. Little Italy, not to be confused with Maggiano's Little Italy, is a small-time, family owned restaurant next to my high school alma mater. I've been dying to try this place for the years I've seen it. Its look alone has a charm that calls my name, and now that I've heard what the grapevine says about this place, I had to give it a try. Right away, the interior has a unique charm, a vintage and sepia tone, reminiscent of a 1980s Italian restaurant. The smell of the food alone has me excited for my meal… I hope the food lives up to it. The service, despite the lack of people, is somewhat slow. Perhaps it's to let me decide. I was still shown both firm affirmations of the dishes I inquired about and light kindness. Someone could interpret that as being smart with a customer, but I don't mind. My appetizer came, the meatball parmesan. This small boat has 2 meatballs, topped with what looks like mozzarella, parmesan, and marinated in a pungent marinara sauce. My first bite was positively flavorful, very tangy and assertive tomato sauce. It was very strong, and certainly carried this dish. The meatballs were fresh, and had a lovely blend of spice and meat in them. They fall apart in your mouth, very very tender. The mozzarella was honestly underwhelming, certainly not bad, but I expected more. Overall, this is a great sign for my main entree. Upon closer inspection, it appears the meatballs may be made in a batch at the beginning of the day. The texture and look isnt off-putting, but they may be cooked at the start of a day and then heated up to order. This is, of course, speculation. The bread was served fresh, it's apparent they make loaves in batches, but this evening dinner batch was still nicely warm, buttery, and had a thin, crisp crust. I was very impressed by this alone, but missing the essence of some olive oil and dipping spices. Still, it made a great pairing to my appetizer and the zesty marinara sauce. Of course, I had to go with a chicken parmesan, served with a side of spaghetti in an Alfredo sauce. I must say, my first bite was an incredible first impression. The Alfredo I ordered was very, very well done. Very buttery, decently cheesy, the perfect amount of not too runny and not too thick. My only complaint would be the lack of spice, I could use more spice, a sharper cheese, and some black pepper of course. The chicken parmesan filet did not disappoint. The breading was crispy and light, the marinara sauce again was a real stand out, but it left me wanting more, both from the topped mozzarella and the seasoning of the breading. While it was satisfying, I still yearned for more flavor and spice. Speaking of, the seasons available at the table were satisfactory at most, but potentially expired at worst. The parmesan and salt both had the expected pronunciation, but the black pepper hardly tasted like.. well, anything. It added almost nothing to the main course, I was disappointed to taste it and see no change. While I was too full to indulge in a desert, the dinner I had was certainly something. The meatballs were stellar and the chicken parmesan was standard. I will be returning to try more on the menu, as my hopes for the rest of the selection of food is still relatively high. I'm excited, with the quality of the meatballs alone, to try the New York style pizza, lasagna, and especially the seafood offerings. I'll be back soon, but the first impression I got was a great one, all things...
Read moreOur server was Dennis. He was so attentive and very attention to detail. All the servers worked together also to take care of each others tables. The team work was outstanding! The food was fantastic! This is a cute place to have a date night, hopefully my husband and I will come back. And our server was so patient with our son, thank you🙂 We had an appetizer with mozzarella sticks, ravioli, and calamari. And my husband had the fettuccine Alfredo (he loved it), my son had the cheese pizza, and I had the Margarita pizza. The baguette was delicious too! And forget Olive Garden you have to try the Tiramisu from Little Italy 🥰 so delicious!
And the most important to mention is the gospel. I thank Almighty God for His Son Jesus Christ for dying for us ALL! Do you know how He died for us all? By shedding His precious blood on the cross! He was the sacrifice, the final sacrifice for sin! Do you know Jesus as your Savior? Here is the gospel:
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/1co.15.1-4.KJV
“whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;” Romans 3:25 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/rom.3.25.KJV
“and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for our's only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1 John 2:2 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/1jn.2.2.KJV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” John 3:16-21 KJV https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.3.16-21.KJV
