The Pei Wei Asian Kitchen at the 999 E Basse Rd Suite 199, San Antonio Tx 78209 is just fantastic! From the moment I enter the store, I am greeted EVERYTIME by at least one Pei Wei staff member. They always have a smile and are not in a rush, but are interested in listening about my day. The Cashier - Mark -is extremely nice along with the manager and other gentleman. Mark I have seen the most and he always gives great menu advice and lets me know about the app and other benefits Pei Wei provides. I usually ask him if i have any discount and he puts my account in and sometimes finds deals I didn't even know about. BONUS! And lets be honest, in this economy, who isn't trying to save a buck. Since downloading the app, I believe Pei Wei provides higher quality food for a great price than almost anywhere. The deals I have received on the app are amazing - I received 1 free email for downloading the app and I took my girlfriend! What a good excuse to eat good food with good company! The food is always prepared correctly and in a timely manner. I like how the to go orders have the rice on one side and the food/sauce on the other, so I can mix it how I like. I always get the General Tso's chicken because it has a great combination of hot/spicy. My gf enjoys the Mongolian beef, which is always cooked perfectly. None of the food is greasy and I always feel good after eating here, unlike some fast food places. The restaurant is always clean and the Tea is on point! So, i just wanted to write this review because after going many times over the past 6-8 months, I have only had a terrific experience from entering to ordering to everything. Thanks again Mark and the rest of the staff - I will be...
Read morePei Wei is fast Asian food but definitely a major step up from Panda Express. There is no drive thru. You walk inside and order your food at the cashier. Drinks are self serve and refills are free. Your food is brought to your table when it is prepared. The dining room is spacious and comfortable and wait staff is very helpful and friendly.
This was our first visit and our cashier/server, Mark, was extremely helpful. He explained the menu board and even offered recommendations when we asked. The offerings can all be customized with your choice of proteins. Certain dishes, which are clearly marked, can be made gluten free upon request. We chose bourbon chicken and beef with broccoli. I also had hot and sour soup. We both chose a delicious, orange citrus, iced tea.
I was surprised at the portion sizes! They are extremely generous. Luckily they have plenty of take out containers available at the drink station.
I found the hot and sour soup to be especially hearty. It has a thick, dark, broth with plenty of tofu squares and sprouts and veggies. I was also very happy with the beef broccoli. It has super tender beef with a slightly sweet and savory sauce. My daughter loved her sweet bourbon chicken.
If you are looking for fast, unfussy, Asian food with dine-in quality food, this is a great choice. We...
Read moreThis restaurant looks like it’s dying. At first when I walked up to this place I thought it was closed! The open light was off, I looked inside from the door and thought oh well I guess it closed down permanently. Then I grabbed the door and it opened much to my surprise. It was 2pm there were 2 people eating in there and 2 people working. I couldn’t find a table I wanted to sit at because none of them had been wiped clean! You know when you finally sit down and everything you touch is sticky? That’s this place. The guy in there behind the counter was more interested in his phone than actually caring about how his restaurant presents to customers. The food was “ fire cracker” chicken. Basically it’s chicken bites with sweet and sour sauce. So disappointing, I like PF Changs but this restaurant is brutal. Overladen with the sauce that’s all you could taste. I ate it because I was hungry but regretted doing that after, it was a gut bomb.
I don’t understand how this place is still open? It won’t be for much longer if they don’t clean up their dining area and start with wiping a few tables.
San Antonio has a lot of excellent restaurants and this isn’t...
