My family and I have been going to snowflakes for years and never had a single complaint. The service was fast. The food was good. The restaurant seemed happy.
Everything changed about a month or two ago when the new owners came in. New owners who openly admitted to their customers they didn't really know what they were doing, mind you.
First thing we noticed was they stopped adding the 2 free donut holes with every order. Not a big deal, but it was definitely something that took us back seeing as how its never happened in the 5 years we've been going here. After that, we noticed the quality of the food in general has gone down to the point where the once fresh, Fluffy kolash and croissants now look like something that was pulled from the freezer 5 minutes before opening.
Went to order food yesterday, and the manager had to tell the cashier MULTIPLE times to use FRESH milk when making my drink??? Almost as if she was getting ready to use expired milk they had not bothered to clean out of the fridge from the day before. The amount of times she had to be told how to simply add milk to a drink was painfully embarrassing to watch as a paying customer to the point where I wanted them to throw out the drink she made me and have her manager to it himself. I understand being new to a job a needing training, but you shouldn't have to be told to add milk that is FRESH to a customers 5 times in 20 seconds. At that point. Fire the employee and hire an actual batista who won't give your customers food poisoning. I wouldn't be surprised if she was high on something stronger than weed with how poor her cognigive skills were at work.
All in all, I've never had an issue with snow flakes in the past. I grew up on huebner and Babcock since 2002. Snow flakes was an amazing experience to have, and I'm greatful I got to experience it before the new owners and their grossly incompetent employees run it...
Read moreI looked up best donuts in SA and this shop popped up. Though nearly wiped out, I was able to grab their last spicy boudin kolache and it was amazing. The bread was soft and boudin was cooked perfectly with enough spice for kick. Since they were nearly out of everything, I asked what their recommendation was on the most popular items left. Blueberry cake donut. Not too sweet, with the lightest and thinnest layer of glaze and a powerful taste of blueberry. A great choice. Last was the jalapeño sausage kolache, that they offer in a small and large size, absolutely fantastic. I heard their apple fritters as well as their spinach and feta croissants are winners, so I’ll definitely have to return to try those next time around. This was a winning experience considering the little items left . They open at 5A, so I’ll definitely return earlier and likely take some to work next...
Read moreI love donuts and these are some good ones! The apple fritters are so crispy and chewy! The apple bits and flavor is so nice with the cinnamon. She is so crunchy and sweet! They are dangerous. I love that you pick your fillings and that they have so many options. My favorites are the fruit flavors because they actually taste like the fruit rather than just sugar. The basic donuts are done well but I do prefer a thicker chocolate layer. For more chocolate I’d stick to getting a filled Bavarian. Those have a perfect layer of chocolate that’s just enough for the amount of donut and filling. The blueberry bread donut was a nice surprise because the glaze wasn’t as sweet as I was expecting. The cake donut was done really well too. Nice crispy edges all around! The also have a large selection of kolaches which I’ll try on another visit but they did look so...
