My husband and I thought the Stetson bar was a nice place to start visiting after previously checking it out so we decided to have his birthday party there.
We booked with Alyssa and confirmed with Leslie the Saturday before the party. She informed us that the dance floor bar where we reserved would open at 7:00pm. On the day of the party (May 25th) Rudy was working Happy Hour shift bartending. Because business is slow during the day, he was the only bartender on duty. Rudy was very courteous, helpful with setting up tables and assisting with hanging a decoration. We appreciate him for helping.
We had an open tab for our guests until 7:00pm. Rudy informed us that during that time he would no longer be bartending and our tab would be closed for a shift change. During the shift change, Santos took over Rudy's area at the main bar and Tori was assigned to the bar near the dance floor next to our party.
It was 7:15pm when we requested to start a new tab with Tori. She was busy and stated she was not ready to make drinks. Additional time went by and we noticed she was texting on her phone. When offered a credit card to open tab, and ask again if she was ready to open the bar, in an annoying tone she stated she still wasn't ready!
Our friend ordered a drink at the main bar thinking we still had an open tab. As she returned to our area, Santos followed her and with a nasty tone said "someone needs to pay for that drink!" He was unprofessional, and confrontational with our guest! (Cameras in bar) She called him out about how he nor the other bartender was willing to do their job and open a tab!
We made several attempts to reopen the tab at the main bar with Santos, and were consistently denied and told "we could open a tab at the dance floor bar." Why Santos declined reopening our tab and kept turning us away to Tori, when she was not ready to serve customers, is questionable because he was not busy!
7:30pm, the dance floor bar was still not open and we were never given the opportunity to reopen a tab. Mgmt needs to be more involved and oversee how staff treats customers!
Guess Stetson Bar is doing so well they can be selective on who they choose to serve. Rudy was pulling a double shift. He did not complain nor did he give a negative attitude. He was professional, courteous performed his job and did it well. Rudy should be promoted instead of his duty of a bar back for unfriendly, rude bartenders not wanting to work and do their job! Needless to say we left soon afterwards. We had a more friends joining us for the live band but decided to take our business elsewhere! We definitely won't be returning...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place used to be Cooter Browns. I loved it then. Now the dance floor is so small. There isnāt a place to do a walk around. They went from 2 bars and girls set up selling beer to 1 bar. The bartenders are rude and serve only their selected customers. My husband went to purchase two drinks and when he paid, the bartender didnāt even bring him his change. He was going to tip her but she just decided sheād decide what her tip should be. Then when he went back she decided to take a break leaving all of the customers to wait. There was a male bartender too and he told my husband to just be patient. Ok. We had maybe 3 drinks each the entire night. When you go out to a place, you want to hear good music and have a few drinks. The bartenders appear to be bored or unhappy or unable to handle serving. It wasnāt even that busy. The DJ played maybe 3 good songs if that. I will never understand why a country bar plays more Tejano music than country? The band was pretty good but they also played Tejano. Shouldnāt that be at a Tejano bar? I get one or two songs but the majority Tejano music? We left after the female bartender just walked off and stopped serving. That was rude; on top of the fact that she just kept my husbandās change. If she was something to look at and did outstanding serving MAYBE that would be overlooked, but she lacked both. Iāll never understand that either. I miss Cooter Browns. San Antonio has no fun, legit country bars to go to. Unfortunately, this one is closest to my house but Iād rather stay at home for movie night than to waste my money and time at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been here one time in my entire life, but really I donāt trust reviews from a barās āregularsā, and I donāt think anyone else does either, so that being said. I went in here once with a friend of mine who works in this area. We stopped in on a weekend early evening and had us a few beers. Bar was clean and bartender was prompt with service and friendly. It seemed to be a bar that had many neighborhood regulars who frequent the establishment. However, as a random stranger I didnāt feel uncomfortable at all. Everyone was nice and friendly. The crowd was a mix of both white color and blue color folks, mostly males with a few females other than me and my companion with ages ranging from 30- 55 years old. There was a mix of some classic rock like Led Zeppelin playing on what I assumed was a juke box although I didnāt see it, and a bit of āoutlaw countyā like Johnny Cash, as well. It seemed to be a decent little neighborhood bar, and since than while driving by there are nights that it is packed, so I assume with entertainment (live music perhaps? IDK I have not gone back, but perhaps I will to update...
