Sukhothai Thai Restaurant Express — Restaurant in San Antonio

I don't like writing negative reviews for restaurants that I have such high regards for but here I go. I absolutely loved this restaurants valley high location. I've been one of their loyal customers since day one of business operations. I was excited to hear that they'd open a new location both 5 miles away but I was able to get delivery from the Tezel location. Again, I've been frequenting this restaurants since they opened their first location so I shouldn't have any problems with the new one. Wrong.... I wish I could upload my detailed order. When I say detail I'm VERY DETAILED... I love the classic thai rice. I always add my finishing touches to it without a problem. Today I don't know if they ran out of shrimp but I received 4. I ordered the combination beef and shrimp, and I received Classic Thai Rice with beef and four shrimp. Disappointed yes, the beef and rice took over the plate. Portions of the rice was hard. Second part of my order. The chicken wing are the greatest especially when the grease is nice and fresh. I don't like hard fried chicken I even SPECIFIED ON THE ORDER please don't fry hard. NOT DARK!!! THE PICTURE SPEAKS FOR ITSELF. Hard and Dark!!! I also ordered Tea they called to say they didn't have Tea today. Wow, I excepted Thia tea why not? I've already paid I guess so. The only thing in this order that came out correct was the Edamame but wait I requested extra salt that I didn't receive. So all in all a order that was $38.00 is still sitting on the counter. I ate the Edamame you can't...

My experience was AWESOME! If I could give it 10*+, I would! My experience with Grubhub was a negative 10! I ordered 2 times and now I'm waiting for my refund from them. Used Doordash & that was awesome too! However, Beam, from Sukhothai, turned this issue into a very positive experience! With the sweetest voice (voice from heaven) & sincere empathy, she totally understood how important this was for me! I live out of state but it was my older sister's BD (66th), she's not in the best health, doesn't get out much and has never had Thai food! For me it was the next best thing to being there w/her. Beam, listened and went above & beyond to make this a very special meal for my sister! My sister totally loved the Pad Woon-sen, Tom Yum soup, the pineapple fried rice, fried bananas & ice cream and an extra...Thai Sweet sticky rice mango! My sister was in a "Food Coma" She said it was so good that she can't wait to have more tomorrow! Thank you, Beam, Sukhothai, for making this happen for my sister! True Worth is" The Value you provide & how well you serve others" the Value/Experience received today, goes beyond words. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an authentic experience, good food, excellent & caring CS!...

I actually used to like this place but lately they have been stingy with their food. I ordered curry and they gave me a little portion of rice?? And same for my sesame chicken. They give me a dinner size for the curry and sesame but barely any rice to eat it with? Last time I paid for hot oil and they didn’t give it to me and then the noodles I ordered on the side weren’t even flavored, it was just a side of udon noodles that were just cooked. What in the world???

I’m done with this place though. I don’t want to have to cook rice cause they didn’t give me enough. I would gladly pay more for rice but don’t continue to jip me… They are becoming stingy with the rice and hot oil and never give you utensils unless you go in person. Most people won’t care until it happens to them… if you are fine with little rice then this might not bother you but as an Asian, I want my rice!

update - she stated the rice was free, which is understandable since I ordered 2 dishes. However, any other place I’ve been to has given me way more rice than this… this was just one small scoop & I used to work at a Chinese restaurant so I know portion sizes on rice… and to be honest, you have cheated me out of utensils multiple...
