Culebra Meat Market — Local services in San Antonio

This place used to be decent back in the day, but over time has gone downhill & not stopping by as often anymore ! Specially after 2020 health incident & claim that was fixed & going forward will be preventable, without a single improvement ! Still was hoping to see some improvement until yesterday stopped by for couple items, including 2 bags of peanuts ! With friends started to have few while we were driving but right away noticed the awful taste & wired texture ! Was dark to see , just behind a light checked the ones I had in my hand & wasn't normal , so i thought it was a bad one & throw everything back in the bag till take a look at home ! Couple hours passed before made it back & for some reason felt itchy ! At home as soon as started taking the stuff out of the main bag was faced by flys , eggs ,larva … many dead ,many most likely skipped , many were hanging around & after backtracked realized they were in the car , on our clothes causing the itch & in the house ! Disgusting & nasty , wonder where health inspector might be or what improvement , if any or did even get fixed !? Perhaps nothing ,until someone gets sick or say something to go fill out another form & report it back to the office to show some kind of action was taken ! It’s obvious , putting people’s health & wellbeing in danger for personal gains ! Never anymore & can purchase from many other places , till see what health office or owner response to this awful performance & how can anyone believe that other products are any better !? We...

I was looking for marinated meat comparable to the one I used to find in Mexican stores. Maybe that was my mistakes or maybe it’s the Tex-Mex marinade. I got the marinated meat and tasted rancid. I asked a native tejano and he said he never gets meat from these locations as they generally marinade the meat that’s about to go back to be to sell it. He was not wrong. The meat tasted bad or funky, something wrong with it. Now I have over $100 of meat that are going to go bad. Will not recommend this place to anyone for marinated meat. Maybe the regular would be better and do the marinade...

I visited the Tezel location for a second time in hopes that the poor service the first time around was a fluke. This time I was ignored by the two people behind the meat counter for several minutes. When I finally asked for what I needed I realized the meat tray was sitting on a counter back there. I figured maybe that was because it was fresh. I got home and immediately started cooking the chopped meat. It was about 40% grizzle and did not smell fresh at all. Waste of money. Never...
