I’m new to SA, I found out about The Block and invited my family out to it, (total of 7 people). We got there and everyone ordered from the food trucks but my bf and I. We ordered from the food truck right outside the patio area thinking that they were all a part of the “the BLOCK”, especially seeing that the space is very small. As I was bringing my food back to the patio to eat with my family, I saw a sign saying to ‘not bring in any outside food next to the gas station’. That’s when I realized that they aren’t working together. So my bf waits at the gate with the food while I try to get the keys from my mother-in-law with a coke in my hand, as I’m walking towards her the worker is walking towards me and starts pointing at the sign and not letting me in. I say ‘ I know I’m sorry, I just saw the sign. I thought these food trucks all worked together. I’m just getting the keys from my mother-in-law. I’m sorry, I’m the one that brought them here”. My mother-in-law asks him if it’s okay that we eat here since everyone else was ordering food. He then gives her attitude. She walks away he then starts to rant and give me attitude about why my bf and I can’t be eating there. I already said “I just saw the sign, I thought you guys worked together, ‘IM SORRY’, and I’m just going to get the keys from my mother-in-law so I can eat in the truck because we all came together.” Then he says, with attitude, that he’s going to do something about that sign and he’ll let me eat there. I told him it’s okay, I didn’t want to go against his rules, which I wasn’t going to. But this review is because of his attitude towards me and my mother-in-law, it was definitely uncalled for, especially that I was fine with obligating to the rules, He literally lost 7 customers (potentially more). And my family and I are HUGE on supporting local businesses. A little bit of kindness...
Read moreI've been here a few times, but last night my experience was not excellent. I was meeting a friend and we were both bringing our dogs for a little socialization as dogs are allowed here. I unfortunately forgot my doggy bags and knew they had a stand right by the entrance with doggy bags and was annoyed to find that all 3 slots were empty! Okay, no big deal. Then we find a nice place to sit down and chat and we had a good time for about 10 minutes until a family with two dogs arrived and sat at the table near us. They decided to tie up one of their dogs to a tree rather than watch him, and this dog barked non-stop for two hours straight. Our dogs began to get agitated by this, but the family ignored the dog the whole time. Staff was non-existent and I had hoped they would come by and say they needed to not tie their dog to a tree and allow the dog to continue barking non-stop. This family didn't seem to care and I developed a serious migraine. When it finally came time to leave, I searched for a recycle bin to toss my can into and was shocked to discover there were no recycle bins anywhere around! Now I understand this is supposed to be a place family's, students, etc. can come out and relax and have a good time, but I was not able to have a good time due to this obnoxious dog and its family who ignored the poor dog. Staff should have done something about this as it was extremely disruptive to everyone there. No other dogs were misbehaving, and I don't blame the dog in this case, I blame the negligent family. Staff should have said something to the family of this dog to let them know they shouldn't be tying their dog to a tree, a tree that was more than 5 feet from their table. I doubt I will be...
Read moreHorrible service and place. My husband & I stopped by to grab something to eat here, it was our first and definitely our last! I ordered my food from a truck close to the bar area my husband walked to the food truck outside the gate, we thought that was one of their trucks advertising from the street that they're back there (since they sit behind the store) so my husband got his from there, when he came in to sit with me some short little man from the bar came out and rudely asked my husband what's in your bag!?! My husband replied food from one of your trucks, his reply was I guess you didn't read the sign when you walked in! You can throw your food or we can hold it for you till you leave! My husband and I couldn't believe his tone and the way we were approached embarrassing us in front of other people that way, it gets worse.. as we are gathering our things to leave after being treated this way he continues to walk behind us, he and my husband still exchanging words when my husband tells him he'll make sure to let people know how we were treated he tells my husband F$&! you! And is flipping us off ! Never going back! This kind of behavior might be acceptable to college or younger crowds but definitely not for us!!! Definitely NOT kid friendly, mind you kids were present when he was using foul language and...
