I wish I could give zero stars. My friends and I visited Tu Asador on Friday night for a joint birthday celebration, and it was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had.
First, despite having a reservation (secured with a credit card), we waited an unreasonably long time to be seated—even though no one else was waiting. When we were finally seated, our server arrived and started pouring water. But when my friend politely asked if they offered chips and salsa for the table, he rudely replied, “I’m pouring the water right now, wait til I’m done.” That set the tone for the entire night.
The service was painfully slow, and our server’s bad attitude made it clear he didn’t want to be there. When we decided to order a round of shots, one of my friends asked about their mango shots. His dismissive response was, “If it’s on the menu, then we offer it.” Seriously?
It got worse. We noticed the hostess sitting at the bar having a drink instead of working, which is completely unprofessional. As former hostess myself, I know that isn’t allowed. At one point, my friend tried speaking to our server in Spanish (her native language), thinking it might make him more comfortable since he had a heavy Spanish accent. He acted as though he couldn’t understand her—an odd and rude response.
We decided to pass on the shots and order individual drinks instead. After waiting a long time, our server returned to tell us that their blender was broken, so they couldn’t make most of our drinks. At that point, we’d had enough and decided to leave.
The fact that they knew it was a birthday celebration and treated us so poorly makes this even worse. Between the rude service, unprofessional staff, and constant issues, this was an absolutely terrible experience. I will never return and will make sure to tell everyone I know to avoid Tu Asador...
Read moreOur first visit to “Tu Asador Mexican Steakhouse” was an absolute delight! They’re located at 📍1662 Encino Rio (1604/281 area) and also have a Castle Hills location.
I started with a refreshing mango strawberry lemonade to kick off our meal. They brought us some crispy chips paired with a flavorful tobasco-style sauce that was great for drizzling and different.
For our appetizer, we chose the guacamole y totopos, which featured creamy guacamole mixed with onions and cilantro.
Since they specializes in steaks, we both opted for their ribeyes, and we were not disappointed. Each steak was served on a unique cutting board, which added a nice touch to the presentation. Accompanying our steaks were grilled vegetables (zucchini, squash, bell peppers, mushrooms, and green onions) which complemented the meal beautifully. The addition of half a garlic head and salt on the side was a lovely detail that enhanced the flavors.
The steaks are wood-fire grilled, and you can really taste that incredible char flavor. I ordered my ribeye medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection—juicy and bursting with flavor.
For dessert, we indulged in the Mostachon, a crispy cookie cake topped with a creamy cheesecake filling, whipped cream, and strawberries. It was absolutely divine, and I loved that it could also be made with Nutella cream!
Our server, Javier, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, offering great suggestions and being attentive throughout our meal. His service added to the overall positive experience.
I’m so glad we discovered this place and can't wait to return to explore more of their menu. I give it 5...
Read moreI love Tu asador, usually go to the first location and decided to try the new one the first week they opened. I did not expect much because I knew it was the first week. Food was perfect per usual. My only problem was our server... she was a lady that was super rude, my friend asked 2 times for her coke, I asked her for water and after 30 min the my drink came, our food came out way after a lot of tables that ordered after us, she did not bring the food to us, we had to ask 3 times to a different server to bring us things because she was not even trying to be a server... I was so mad because I was celebrating my birthday with my friend that day and I was going to order dessert but after that lady’s attitude I even lost my appetite, she made everything turn into a bad experience. When she finally asked if we wanted anything else I told her to bring the check. When I took out my card and saw what type of card it was her attitude change in a second, now she was nice and attentive. Saying that they are trying to do their best, that we should come back, all of the sudden being nice and trying to be out server. We asked a different server to call a manager and I believe the chef or manager (tall Mexican guy) came, we told him about the lady's attitude and he didn't even care. I told him that we were going to pay(because I was not trying to get free food) but this is unacceptable. He said oh well sorry, I will tell my sister. Definitely NOT GOING BACK TO...
