12/24/2020 update-
So the family voted and we decided on Yummi’s for Christmas Eve dinner... I was apprehensive about ordering because of the lack of consistency for such a special meal, but we ended up taking a chance (I lost out 3/4)
Since we were having it delivered we ordered online. I prefer ordering this easy so its easy to include details of our orders like: thick sauce, substitutions, spice level, etc...
The order did come quickly but what was delivered was a huge disappointment. The food was cold, each of our orders were wrong (despite ordering online and having the order written there for them)... My spicy pork had no sauce, it was dry, had a little watery liquid at the bottom. The worst part is the TONS of onions they put in the kids dishes (which was not asked for, was not how it was described, and was not how it’s ever been served). I’m not even touching on everything....
In my previous review I commented on lack of consistency.... Well, Yummi’s is now consistently BAD. I expect way more when I spend $100+ on a meal for 2 kids and 2 adults.
This time the whole family agreed that Christmas Eve 2020 would be the last time we eat at Yummi’s.
-previous review- This is our entire family’s favorite place to go out. We love their food and their sushi. The only reason this is a 4/5 is because they lack in consistency. Most of the time the food is good, sometimes amazing, and other times it is just a miss... It’s never too busy, great location and they also deliver. All-in-all we love this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone hungry...
Read moreMy coworkers and I went to Yummi for lunch. It was Tasty Tuesday which is a new Culinaria-related special event every Tuesday in July and August. For the Tasty Tuesday lunch menu, it's a 3-course meal for $15. Several of my coworkers chose this for lunch and really enjoyed. One coworker got the Bitters roll, another got the Boerne roll and another got the Cucumber Paradise roll (which was a riceless roll).
I thought the Tasty Tuesday lunch menu was too much food for me to finish so I chose the Combo 4 meal which was a mix of nigiri sushi and sashimi. Good-sized cuts of fish! This dish was beautifully plated! It was a feast for the eyes and also literally a feast! I ended up bringing home the food that I couldn't finish, which filled the to-go container.
Ida served us well and checked on us frequently. The appetizers came out quickly but then the entrees did take a little longer. She did tell us that on July 11 and 12 that they're having an all you can eat sushi rolls for $19.95 (similar to what the Bitters location offered).
As we were leaving, I noticed that on one of the signs it said Uni. I'll have to try...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I have been here several times but unfortunately this will be our last. This is unfortunate because the sushi is awesome. What isn't so great is the service. Far from great actually. The first few times we have been in here, we were taken care of by a younger girl, who my boyfriend thought was very unfriendly. We sort of brushed off because the sushi was always really good. The lack of attentiveness and friendliness was a bit annoying, but whatever she did her job per se. We reached the last straw this evening when we waited for FiFTEEN minutes without someone coming by to even get our drink order. There were two waiters and one waitress (the unfriendly one) who passed by our table multiple times without a single word. The place is small so its not like they missed us, and I know I made eye contact with each of them so it wasn't a matter of forgetting as it was choosing not to come over and ask us for our order. We left without saying a word and we will not be back. Don't go to the place. Support places who pride themselves in both good food and...
