Before you read my full review just picture this... you go to the movie theatre with a friend and the theatre is EMPTY then a couple walks in and sits in the two seats right behind you and starts kicking your chair... it's awkward right? Like of all the empty seats in a theatre why the hell would these people chose to sit right behind you? It's uncomfortable and not necessary since there are possibly 100+ empty seats**
My boyfriend and I arrived and requested the all you can eat menu, everything was great until the waitress sat another couple right next to us. I know it sounds snobby but let me paint you a picture.... the restaurant has maybe about 12 tables AND a sushi bar (so there are plenty of seats) my boyfriend and I were using one table and another couple had another table so 2 tables out of twelve are being used and they decide to sit two other people on top of us? They were literally on top of us! My boyfriend got up to talk to the manager and when he stood up he squeezed between the couple sitting next to us ... when my boyfriend slid through, his butt was touching the table next to us where the other people were sitting. Would you want some random strangers butt rubbing against your table? Oh and it was a two seater table so it's not like the couple had much space for themselves to turn or scoot away.
We were sitting so close in a restaurant that had 10 other unoccupied tables and it was externally awkward.
My boyfriend told the waitress that she can just charge us for the few rolls we had gotten and that we would be leaving. We didn't want to request another table as it would have been even more awkward. We were in the restaurant for about 20 mins at this point and had just gotten a few rolls.
The waitress called the manager and we had explained what had happened THE MANAGER GOES TO THE TABLE SITTING NEXT TO US AND SPOKE LOUDLY SAYING "YOU WANT TO LEAVE BECAUSE THESE PEOPLE ARE SITTING NEXT TO YOU ?(and he points to the people sitting on top of us) THEN THE MANAGER SAYS " THESE PEOPLE HAVE JUST AS MUCH RIGHT TO EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT AS YOU DO"
What this manager did was completely inappropriate... my boyfriend is Latino and I'm American/Mexican plus I work in a multicultural environment with people of all cultures and backgrounds... for him to stoop to that level and purposefully make it seem like we were discriminating that couple was a terrible and embarrassing experience.
We told the manager to just charge us for the buffet even though we had only had our rolls for a few minutes (most of which were not even eaten) the manager charges us two buffets and then had the nerve to charge us a $10 "left over fee"
I understand why they charge the $10 fee but I feel like in our case it should not have applied to us since we had only been there 20mins before that and had only revived a few rolls that we didn't even get to eat. We ended up paying $76 for a meal we barely touched.
We asked the manager what was the point of him sitting the people right next to us and he said "WE SIT EVERYONE CLOSE TOGETHER BECAUSE WE NEVER KNOW HOW BUSY ITS GOING TO BE" (just add a few swear words in there because he was using profanity)...like I said... there were 12 tables and only two were being used. The restaurant was empty when we got there AND it was empty when they sat the other couple on top of us.
It really sucks to have to pay almost $100 for a meal when we were only there for maybe a total of 30 mins and didn't even eat anything (or take anything home) We weren't even there long enough to finish our first ordered drinks (and we were charged for that as well)
Before my boyfriend and I left we apologized to the couple sitting next to us and told them that we never meant to make them feel uncomfortable, we just didn't want to be so close when there were so many empty tables and it...
Read moreI love this restaurant. Me and my family have eaten here for as long as I can remember. However today we had a very disappointing and disturbing experience when we ate there. First when we arrived, the restaurant had a good amount of people there but not nearly as busy as it usually is. With that being said we stood at the door waiting to be seated for a few minutes which seemed odd considering they are usually much busier and usually seat people quickly. Then when we are seated the lady seats us and walk away and doesn’t come back. We sat there for almost ten minutes when I finally decided to flag down the one waitress who was running around working hard. She had asked if we had been helped and we told her no. She quickly rushed to get us drinks, set us up with menus and got us our edamame and soup. The lady who left us after seating us the. Returns and asks if we are ready to order and I politely to her no every time she tried to help us. Instead I Ordered from the one waitress that seemed to be helping everyone unlike the other two waitresses. I also watched them scold her numerous times as if she was doing thing wrong however it seemed as if she was the only one serving the customers and making them happy.( I want to make that point made, that she was the ONLY ONE SERVING AND MAKING CUSTOMERS HAPPY). We ordered 5 rolls. One being a shrimp tempura, a roll we always get. Except this time something seemed off. It didn’t look the same and we soon found out it didn’t taste the same at all. In fact my wife quickly informed me that something didn’t taste right and soon after it caused her to throw up. When she returned from the bathroom she told me we needed to leave because she was gonna be sick again but she didn’t wanna throw up in the bathroom because there was no where for her to clean herself up because the sink was out of order. This made me sick because for all we know, the staff probably uses that bathroom and all the customers use it as well. And for them to not provide working water to clean your hands is greatly unsanitary. This making my wife want to leave right away left me to have to hurry up and scarf down 4 rolls on my own because I would have no choice but to pay full price if I didn’t. When I complained about the bad roll the manager has the audacity to come out and tell us that it’s one of their basic rolls and that’s why it looks and tastes the way it does and that there is nothing wrong with it. I told her I don’t care and that doesn’t make sense because it caused my wife to get sick and we aren’t gonna eat it. She then stormed off mad.
After we left I called the restaurant and requested to make a complaint to the owner and the manager refused to take my number down and refused to tell me when or how I could talk to the owner about my experience. This upsets me. I use to really love this place but the manager and the main waitress are...
Read moreThis is a contructive review for the Miyagi Sushi in San Bernardino, CA and for future customers who are relying heavily on internet reviews. I will start my review with the pros. The service was good. The host was able to seat our party as soon as we arrived. The servers were able to attend to guest requests ( refilling drinks, condiments ) and answer questions about the menu. The location is easy to find with ample parking. Now the cons, for the price it is pricey given the quality of the sushi. There are sushi places which charge less with better tasting sushi. The rolls ( maki) were mediocre at best. The rice was rather warm and bland. Sushi is seasoned rice but it does not have the distinct quality of how sushi rice should be. Sushi is Additionally, the ratio of the rice to the seafood were clearly disproportionate, while the rolls were generously imbedded with rice and copious amount of imitation crab meat ( kani) the taste definitely suffer. It makes each sushi extremely big for one bite. I observed some customers having dificulty picking it up successfully making it in one bite. Needless to say, the sushi chef use a lot of fillers (rice, kani) to make each roll look big. The nigiri was not the greatest either as the fresh water eel were broken into pieces instead of a single piece. Plating and presentation is very important for sushi. The miso soup and appetizers were okay. The chicken teriyaki that was served were extremely thin slices of chicken. The sauce saved the day for the "emaciated" slices of chicken breast. The shrimp shumai had only 2 pieces instead of the usual 4 very similar to the pre packaged ones available at the freezer section. Overall, the rating is 2 stars taking into consideration the taste and quality of the sushi/seafood, restaurant experience, service, ambiance. Hopefully, the review helps for future customers and the restaurant. It can just be a busy day for them and I don't claim to be an expert but having said that I have been to a lot of sushi places all over the country and having been to Japan myself. I can discriminate good and average sushi. All the best and Bon...
