If I can give them zero stars, I would. we order delivery from here and we go to the store, probably 4 to 6 times a month. Today we ordered two sandwiches on Uber Eats and we called in to have them modify the sandwiches how we like them because my lady doesnāt like tomato, mustard, or Ryebread. We called them many times they finally answered the phone after less than two minutes from placing our order. We asked him if he can modify our sandwiches the way we like them since those options are not on Uber Eats. While all on the phone, all we can hear is music with cuss words in the background. We explained we wanted our sandwiches modified and he said they were already made and ready to go. Thatās a little hard to believe because every time we order from there or go there they are always busy and it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get our food. He refused to modify our sandwiches and we unfortunately had to cancel our order which was over $60 and we only got a refund for half of it so now we have no food and we are down more than $30. We have never experienced this poor of service and unfortunately we wonāt be ordering food from here anymore because of it. We called them back after canceling our order with Uber Eats and explain to them the situation and how they should at least have an option to make a special request. We always call in to modify our order, but for some reason today we didnāt receive the service that weāre Whatās up used to. We both work in the service industry and this is extremely poor customer...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI miss having a good Jewish deli nearby. At this point of my life, finding a vegan deli is even more challenging. To my surprise, Ben and Esther's combine my two favorites into one place. Plenty of parking made it easy to access this location. There was a crowd when we got there close to 1:30p on a Sunday. I think, always a good sign when there is a long line at any restaurant. We waited no more than five minutes in line. My partner and I ordered two Reuben sandwiches, some latkes on the side and pickles! Did I mention pickles. They were just there bobbing in these huge jars. Of course I was stuffing my face with one of these! They were big, plump, juicy and the right amount of pickled. Each bite was scrumptious. I could have had more than one, but I restrained myself. The sandwiches and latkes were ready about fifteen minutes after sitting outside in one of their dinettes. For being surprisingly busy, their lead times were stellar! The sandwich was unforgettable, I nearly forgot I was a vegetarian and the latkes reminded me of home. It was my last meal of the day. I went home satiated, content and ready to make this a place one I frequent often. Thank you for the great food, a clean establishment, and only wish it had not been so busy (I would have loved to have gotten to know the staff there). Maybe next Sunday. ...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLOVE this place! All vegan Jewish deli close to SDSU in San Diego. We were visiting San Diego and stopped here on a whim, since the wife really wanted to try the lox bagel. No, you won't think it's lox, but it's a really tasty bagel regardless that hits all the right notes!
We went two mornings in a row, and tried a couple of different bagel sandwiches. The vegan egg, cheese, and bacon bagel is a tasty little miracle that is a meal on its own. I also tried the steak bagel, which had a bunch of onions and mushrooms on it, and absolutely loved it. And it's ALL VEGAN!
There isn't any seating indoors, but there's a little bit of seating outside that works just fine. The pastries are provided by a local vegan bakery, and what we had was really good!
The staff were very friendly and helpful both visits, especially one of the guys who went out of his way to give us plant based dining options as well as cool places to visit in National City. I wish I had asked his name, because he simply made my morning with his kindness!
I'm really happy we found Ben & Esther's, definitely on top of our places to eat when...
