Let me share my experience and describe how I came to my 1-star review. Arrive and wait in line, all bagel employees are working on online orders so the line doesn't move at all for some time. First suggestion would be to have at least one of the employees working on the line of people actually in the building. After a bit of a wait, I get called up to place my (simple) order. As I am placing my order, mid-order (mid-syllable!), the girl taking the order turns around (out of earshot) to begin collecting my 2 bagels... Now I need to repeat my order to her right out of the gate. This does not inspire confidence. She does not repeat back the order (just 2 bagels with different cream cheeses), I have to just hope/pray that she remembers. Then I get pointed towards the cashier to pay. The cashier, of course, does not know my order so I have to describe to her what I need to pay for. Here is where it gets frustrating.
No one takes a name or gives an order number or any other identifier. So I, along with half a dozen other patrons, wait and hope that a brown bag that vaguely resembles what we ordered manifests itself eventually. I wait patiently as others are presented with their bags. After a 'reasonable' wait, I decide to check in with the cashier to see if somehow my order has been lost, or if it is simply taking longer than expected (for just 2 bagels with cream cheese). I am assured it is being worked on and I continue to wait. A few minutes later the manager comes over and asks what I ordered. Unsurprised, I repeat my order now for the third or fourth time and she explains it must have gotten lost or sent out with the wrong patron, but that they would work on it now.
Several minutes later, the manager produces the long-awaited brown bag and hands it to me with apologies about the wait. I ask her what I could have possibly done differently to avoid this type of confusion. I explain my perspective; the process seems broken. Without an order number or name or other identifier, how can they possibly make things go smoothly? She doesn't offer much reassurance that this has a solution, so I decide to thank her and go on my way. What a frustrating and disappointing experience.
Finally, I get home to enjoy my breakfast... the order is wrong (used the wrong flavored cream cheese). Not much else to say, they basically failed at every aspect of customer...
Read moreThis is a local Bagel shop with some really good bagels. I think it's part of a chain, but the location in Pacific Beach really customizes it into a bagel shop with a beach vibe. Prices are pretty fair, considering inflation. The staff is also pretty friendly. I'm handicapped BUT I don't use a chair so I can't really address how easy or hard it would be to get in here. My personal favorite is the Sweet Siracha breakfast bagel. The one big drawback is that parking is terrible. And I mean terrible! The shop is also really popular so at bagel rush hours (breakfast and lunch) it can get crowded. But these drawbacks are not the shops fault so I didn't gig them for that. Also being PB there are some riff raff in the parking lot but as a rule they don't seem to come into the shop and to this point they haven't bothered me. The shop is joined to another shop, I think it's a yogurt shop but I'm always getting bagels. I just wish there were a Bruegger's where I live because driving to PB and finding parking are a huge hassle. One final point, getting out of the shopping mall by car is also tricky so scope it out first and then figure how to get out of the parking lot! Don't need a fender bender to ruin your chance to get...
Read moreCold bagels, cold coffee .. very disappointed!!
I love this place but since usually is full in the mornings and they don't have enough personel I did what they recommended last time if I am in a hurry "order online" . I order thru Dordash to pick up, well when I arrived the order on Dordash app said wasn't ready but still when they asked me if I need help I showed them and told them I knew was going to be ready in few min but for my surprise the order was ready packed and they gave it to me so I was happy. But...when I opened Everything was cold as an Ice... the coffee was cold, the bagels were cold (not warm at least) . So what did they do? Prepare the order and not update the app? Because the point of the app to show the time is going to be ready is because when you pick it up will be...
