I actually live in Chula Vista, I come over here to study at the living room. I'm really picky with taco shops. My favorite is colimas off university. Beautiful burritos really nice stuff. But I got to give credit to this place, I was really hungry, I was really grumpy. And I ordered a breakfast burrito and it was so good the burrito was made really nice tight, the way I like it. Not thrown together.
And another notable thing if anybody is a fan of bean and cheese and rice burritos. Nowhere I go does anybody ever make a bean and cheese and rice burrito to my liking. I grew up on bean and cheese and rice burritos. The burritos is NOT supposed to be all floppy and thrown together. Bean and cheese and rice burritos are very mushy, so you have to roll it really tight to keep it put together otherwise it's just falls apart. Most important the time at other place, they don't put enough beans not enough rice or you'll spend $8 a BC and R and it's really small. So asked the cashier about what she thought and she said they do a good job. Sure as shit they knocked it out the park and made me one of the best bean and she's a rice burritos I've had it in years. It actually reminded me of a Taco shop I grew up eating when I was little. It was rolled super tight, the portions were perfect for a 9.00 burrito. I was really happy. That was my first time here
When came in again I was wondering if it was going to be that good as the first time. It absolutely was. Same expirience and I came a month ago.
The cashier was the same girl both visits and she's really sweet and very pleasant, the whole place is awesome it gives me a family-owned vibe and I absolutely love it. I can hear the cooks in the background when I was at the window, and I could just hear and they're really nice and friendly and it sounded like they're in just a good mood. Which also must add so how good your food is going to taste right so that made me happy.
Taco shops don't really get reviews that often and I think this place...
Read moreI came to Don Ramon’s for the first time last night. I was very surprised by how good my tacos were. But first—the store was immaculately clean, and they had a hand wash station, self-service water station, and salsa bar with 6 different homemade salsas! Epic!
I ordered a quesabirria and a shredded beef taco. The consommé was really good, and the quesabirria was amazing! Paired with the chunky red and the salsa verde—it was awesome. The shredded beef taco was pretty good, too, and went really well with the regular red salsa.
Overall, great first experience at this taco shop and I was pleasantly surprised by the level of the food and salsas. I definitely recommend it!
Updated: I came back recently to try out the veggie burrito. It was pretty good, though I liked the tacos I ordered previously a bit more. It was fresh, but just not as flavorful as I’d have preferred. I need to try out a few other items still, especially the breakfast burrito and...
Read moreI ordered delivery from here for lunch. Chicken enchiladas and “chips with cheese and guacamole” through Uber Eats. The enchiladas are barely that. Chicken is so greasy and there is no edible sauce, hardly visible. The side of refried beans were the only thing I finished.
“Chips with guacamole and cheese were chips with cheese (not even melted) on TOP and what looked like old puréed avocado on TOP. If this was not intended to have the cheese and guac on the SIDE, it should have been written as nachos. One would always assume this would be chips with a queso and guac separately on the side. These went straight...
