My husband and I went late in the afternoon for lunch/early dinner. I called in my order and asked for a large side of beans with my 2 burritos. I was told that they were out of large containers and that in order to get the same amount of beans in small containers, they would charge me for the 4 small separate containers, which amounts to $5 more. I decided to wait and deal with the bean issue when we picked up our food. While at the place, I told them the last time we went there they were out of large containers, so they gave me 4 small for the price of the large. The man behind counter said it wasn't his deal and he wouldn't do it. I stated that it wasn't my fault that they were out of large containers, and he replied 'well it's not mine either, deal with it and tell me what you want'... So I went ahead and ordered 2 small sides of beans to go with my 2 burritos. In the meantime my husband went to the salsa bar, and to his surprise, it was empty. While paying, I asked about the salsa and was asked if I wanted green or red sauce, I replied "4 red and 2 green". I was then told that I was only allowed 2 sauces per burrito. I let him know that we liked hot sauce in our beans as well, and again, was told only 2 per burrito. All this happened in a very disrespectful and rude manner. Even the people behind me were shocked as well to his responses. There was a time when I would send people there, praising them... Now I would say 'no way! find another spot'!! We are locals and have been going there since they've opened, even through the ownership changes, in which the food has progressively went downhill with each new owner. To me, it's not worth the rudeness of these workers or their zealot issues with the salsa.. We will not be visiting again and will advise anyone else not to. I would love to have a chat with the owner about the blatant rudeness and...
Read moreWe have come here for the past two years and when we first came, the food was always delicious, and it was cheaper. Pros: The place is updated nicely and some of our food was really good. The man cooking at the stove is always very friendly and works a lot of magic. Con: Somehow, the last few times we have come, the young person with curly brown hair who appears to be a young male has been at the register. Tonight, which will be our last night coming, he spoke to my wife and myself very disrespectfully. When they served us our cheese enchiladas, the cheese on the inside was still shredded, cold and uncooked. I very respectfully approached the young man and informed him of this, showing him the inside. He told us that is how it has to be cooked because otherwise the outside will be burned. How is that an enjoyable thing to eat? We just asked him to make us a chicken enchilada. He turned to the cook, who was concerned, and said “otra mas” (one more). He then proceeded to change the radio station that was playing to Alice In Chains for some strange reason, and decided to literally sit with his friend who was dining until a few folks were standing and waiting for a bit at the counter. My wife and I are queer and we receive negative attention like this from service workers at times and it just sucks receiving disrespect when all we do is give respect. We asked a family as they were leaving if he was rude to them and they said yes. We did not say or do anything inappropriate or wrong. Sadly, as I said, we have been long time customers and will not be...
Read moreGoogle suggested this place to me saying it was a 73% match to La Taqueria on 4th st in Long Beach (Best place for the California burrito). So I got pretty excited since this place was close to me and I saw that they had a California burrito as well.
A couple points here; first the California burrito and a coke from La Taqueria come out to be under $7.00 and here they both came to just over $10, the size here is a bit bigger for sure so I was not to put off on the difference. I was a bit put off by the actual burrito itself, but it's my fault, I never bothered to find out how they made it I kinda assumed it would be like most other California burritos I have had and at least somewhat similar to LA Taquerias (French fries, sour cream, carne asada, and cheese, I'm drooling just thinking about it. This one, I'll say was really good, was really different as well. (Pico de gaio, cheese, guacamole, light sour cream, potato chunks, beans, and carne asada).
So this place is definitely not like La Taqueria in Long Beach, maybe more like 65%, but it is still good food. A must try if your in the area, friendly service and a pretty laid back atmosphere with inside and outside seating. No line when I came, unlike la Taqueria, Long Beach you know what I'm...
