I was in town overnight and booked the hostel last minute on a Memorial Day weekend, they had the best rate $38 total per night and the experience couldn’t be better. I paid with no issues, arrived at 11:45 pm (15 minutes before the 00:00 cut out time for check ins), was greeted immediately by a staff member on desk, checked in, was given clear instructions and was in my room in under 15 minutes. Checkout was even easier, just gave my key card back and that was it. The building is small, extremely clean and cozy and has everything you need. I loved the two communal areas outside, one in front of the building with lounge chairs and one behind the fence with bbq, hot tub, pool, lights and a bunch of seating arrangements. The showers were also very clean. The only thing I’d correct if I was the owner is to not widely state that they have free parking. Free parking is for private rooms only. If you’re in a shared room, you have to find street parking. It’s in a residential area and easy to find but still, no parking arrangements are made for guests in shared rooms.

I never write reviews for my stays. Never. The time I spent in this hostel was absolutely unique. From the well planned and executed structure of the place (super convenient bathroom, kitchen, etc) to the incredible staff of the place. Putting aside the great people that I met (Miki❤️) the stay was pleasant, comfortable and unforgettable. Good young vibes and as friendly as it gets - except Sam that just fist bumped me when I left. As you can see, we entered the funner part of this review :) I was told by gun points to include some names, so - first of all - Andrew & Om (R.I.P 😪), stupidly smart Andrea, pure love Laney🫶🏼, Aaaaannnaa, Marci the chosen one, Sam 🟪, Kiande ♟️, Lora 👵, Latifa, and of course big boss Alex. Thanks for making the best stay I could ask for, almost (a small accessible trash can next to the stove is necessary). Till next time, love you all ✌🏻 *If you’re a potential guest that made it until this part, be aware that this review is sarcastic for some parts of it, don’t mind my nonsense 🙏🏼👍🏼 Meanwhile, enjoy purple Sam:

E verything is perfect. The rooms are big, wide, have huge lockers for each bed and are super clean. The sheets are also impeccable, the beds are comfortable and they also have a curtain to prevent the light from disturbing you or to have a little more privacy. The common facilities are also great. A small pool to relax in, the sofa and chill area with Netflix, musical instruments, board games... I've only been there for one night, but the kitchen is immaculate and spacious for the number of people staying there. It saved me that there were drying racks on the balcony so I could dry my clothes outside. The staff is very friendly, suggests activities, helps at all times if you have any problems or issues. Next to the hostel, in that nice and quiet neighborhood, there is a plaza with a supermarket to buy your needs and some restaurants which have good food

5 employees I wanna give a shout out of respect too: Sam, Moe, Yatty, Tarrence and Andrea did a great job at staying professional and productive and being kind during my stays.

Moe and Yatty specifically are two Good Men that are kind and easy to talk too. They keep there political views to themselves and just do there job and take care of the place and will sit down and bs with you about whatever. Mo is a goofy dude and makes me laugh. You may recognize him from the TV show Love on the spectrum. In all seriousness Moe is a good guy and I love how he avoids drama like it’s the plague. Moe has lots of ambition and goals and I know as long as he continues to Grind and sticks to the plan and doesn’t deviate he will have a good life.

Yatty is this wise beyond his years guy who has this amazing ability to just be calm and remain true to himself even when other things around him are going on. I want to get better at that myself so lots of respect to yatty for his demeanor and character. Sam is a very strong women. She’s facing a lot of the same shit im facing and she’s still giving it her all. Sam works her ass off and does a lot for California dreams. Sam has a lot going on in her personal life and what impresses me is she’s only 20 years old and she’s doing everything she can to better her life and become the women she wants to be. Big respect Sam.

Moe is a cool ass dude and California Dreams won’t be the same or near as good without Sam and Moe and the same with Yatty and Andrea.

Andrea is a very kind person and does an amazing job at remaining professional. She seems to me to be a good worker and I like her desire and passion to do more with her life. She has lots of ambition and soon I have a good feeling she’s going to know exactly where she needs to direct that ambition and determination. Biggest thing I can say for Andrea is she will keep it a Buck with you and doesn’t seem to get involved in the side talk and other stuff. She is who she is and she doesn’t hide that and I respect that.

I didn’t get to know Terrance well but he seemed to be a good worker and whenever he gave tours to the new guest he was always polite and respectful.

I hope y’all can get some big blessings from God this year and start your next journey on your road to a happy and fulfilling life and one that you can sit back at the end of the day in your own place and...

From the beginning of making reservation till the checkout process. I was greatly impressed by the receptionist named Ariana of this California Dreams Hostel!|Ariana is such a world class person in customer care & guest services! Not only she was very polite, attentive, cheerful on the phone, but she is also very kind person when i met her. She went beyond & above in securing for me a lower bed in bunk bed setup due to my weak knee, helped me to take some of my luggage's to my room, and even got me some ices (for icing my hurtful knee) while other services staff just lazily offered a cold and canned same response: " ice are for staff and not for guests" (very unsympathetic to guests needs). Later when she learned that i would leave at 3 AM next day for airport thus missing the free continental breakfast, she quietly promised me a special treat so i could have my breakfast on the go. Surely enough, later that evening upon return to my room after a shower, i found her treat (bakeries & fruits) on ny bed!!||Ariana's actions are things one would typically expect at a premium 5 star establishment. But at this hostel in Ocean Beach, i have received these services! I am hoping the management, Arian's manager and owners would be notified of this feedback and commend her appropriately and use this incident as process improvement and in training their staff.|Thank you Ariana! You have represented California Dreams Hostel...
