Elixir Espresso Bar was a disappointing experience, to say the least. As someone who appreciates quality coffee and pastries, I was thoroughly unimpressed with what I received.

The cortado I ordered was one of the worst I’ve ever had. The espresso lacked depth and balance, and the oat milk was poorly steamed, resulting in a drink that was neither smooth nor enjoyable.

While the cafĂ© offers a variety of gluten-free pastries, the ones containing gluten were notably low quality. The apple Danish I tried was made with subpar ingredients, leaving an unpleasant, greasy residue on my teeth. The filling lacked the fresh, natural flavor you’d expect from a well-made pastry.

Overall, the experience fell far short of expectations, especially for a place that positions itself as a specialty coffee and pastry bar. I would not recommend Elixir Espresso Bar to anyone seeking a refined coffee or pastry experience. There are far better options...

Yet another demonstration that atmosphere, style and good service A GOOD CUP OF ESPRESSO DO NOT MAKE. It is nearly impossible to get a decent cup of espresso in California. Elixir is not an exception this sad rule. Nice folks, luxurious place, but if the damn “top of the line” coffee machine is not properly set you get the the same burnt, acid shot of espresso every time. I have traveled from NorCal to SoCal for 10 days now, and still haven’t had a decent espresso. Elixir gets the review, but the same could be said of every place I stopped at from San Francisco to San Diego. The disappointment has become like clockwork on this trip. At an average of $3.50 per cup, no less. Last time I travel without my Moka...

I had seen the images of the Almond Butter Toast, which was hard to resist. Regrettably, the experience didn't live up to the expectation.

I found the cappuccino to be in the bitter side. The presentation lacked any degree of mastery, the consistency texture

While the avocado toast looked amazing, I found it to error in the bland side. Overall it would have benefited from some Cavinders, Slap Ya Momma, or similar seasoning depending on your pallet.

There are a number of coffee shops in Pacific Beach to choose from. In this situation Elixir is a pass and move on per...

This is why you should go to Elixer Espresso Bar: 1. Plenty of seating. I'm starting with this because I have been in so many coffee shops where you order a drink and there is no place to enjoy it if you want to have it in the shop. This shop has you covered. 2. Gluten-free food is available here. Even donuts in numerous flavors. 3. The coffee is great! I enjoyed the latte that I had this morning. Would definitely recommend and I plan to go back. Well worth it! 4. Really fun atmosphere and kind staff. Would definitely recommend. Check out my pictures to get a sense of the space.
